I've just booked a trip to the Nurburgring at the end of July.

Can anyone give me any recommendations for a half decent disc and pay combo for my MY99 Turbo Wagon? I don't want to go down the avenue of a big brake conversion as I will probably only have this car a few months.

Car is almost standard and has 4 pot calipers on the front.

The Ring isn't that hard on brakes, I had Godspeed grooved discs and EBC Bluestuff pads and they were fine.

Just avoid the cheap cheap pads and you'll be ok, and avoid doing too many laps in succession. I always tended to take my car straight up the road for a cool-down (both brakes and engine etc) too, if you just turn off in the car park the rad temperature can easily go up above 100 deg and beyond.

Thanks Andy. Been a few times in my old Evo and only ever did 1 lap at a time for those very reasons.

In that case unless you *need* new brakes, spend the money on laps or a steak at the Pistenklaus (sp?). I doubt standard brakes would be worried too much by a few laps of the ring unless you intend to go round and round it all day long.

PS +1 for Ian at Godspeed though when you do need new kit...had discs and pads from him. Seemed good on the track.

I need new brakes hence the question smile

I would much prefer a few more laps or a couple of steaks, but needs must and that!

I have tarox 40-groove discs and ebc red stuff pads on mine with sone dot 5.1 fluid. A bit noisy but not had any fade at all.

As said the Ring is not hard on brakes as there are big gaps between the corners. I have taken a few standard road cars there and they have been fine.
If you must upgrade then I recommend Ferrodo DS2500 pads and braided brake lines.
