This has been bugging me for a while now. Why are there only 3 headings for the Impreza models in the classifieds? At the moment there's:

Impreza
Impreza STI
Impreza WRX

This means that there's a mixture of 20 years worth of models and types across all of the headings.

Surely with the popularity and number for sale, it'd be better with:

Classics:

Impreza (92-00)
Impreza Turbo/WRX/STI (92-00)

Newage:

Impreza (00-07)
Impreza WRX/STI (00-07)

Hatch/Saloon:

Impreza (08-)
Impreza WRX/STI (08-)

...or something along those lines?

Winds me up too. For instance the P1 doesn't have Sti in the name but it essentially is and thus you get half of them in the "Impreza" section and half in the "Impreza STI" section. Categories should be as you suggested.

Yeah, there seems to be a mix in each, my suggestion:

Impreza - Non Turbo (-2008)
Impreza - Classic Turbos (-2001)
Impreza - New Age Turbos(2001-2008)
Impreza - Post New Age (2008+)

Seems simple enough to me.

Good point about the non-turbo versions. One heading for those is probably fine.

Really they need a decent tagging system. Then you could use tagging density/frequency and relationships to automatically create headings... I also think there could be more filters (like autotrader)... I must admit, I don't think the PH classifieds is very good...

I consult on stuff like this for a living... frown

Or you could just try the BETA search in classifieds. Works just fine and you only get the cars you want to see. smile

What annoys me more is the number of people who say their car is an sti when its not.

Or 'STi looks' which in fact means a massive aftermarket spoiler which lets water into the boot when it rains...

...or calling a UK Turbo 2000 a "wrx", just no!

Hi chaps, it's doubtful we'll do this. With the new classifieds it's easier to sort by year, aspiration, etc. so it's best to keep the categories at a high level and let you filter from there.

For example:

Classic STi: http://beta.pistonheads.com/classifieds?Category=u...

Bugeye/CrossEye STi: http://beta.pistonheads.com/classifieds?Category=u...

New STi: http://beta.pistonheads.com/classifieds?Category=u...

You can also filter out turbo and n/a options, providing the data is there.

Thanks for taking the time to respond Matt, I guess we should have asked for this about 3 years ago.
