Hello, my WRX is due for a service at the end of the month, i've been quoted some large sums by Crossroads and Westaway Subaru, can anybody recommend anybody that does a good service within about 50 miles of Rugby please?

What year WRX and what service interval is it?

Hi, it's a 2005 WRX, it's done 45,000 miles but the next interval is the 60,000 miler

Normally a newage 2ltr WRX is new cambelt at 50,000 miles so i presume that's why you feel you're being charged big money. Price should be around £500-£600 from a dealer. That's what it costs.

If you go somewhere like RCM in Hinkley it may even cost more. I don't know if there is anyone in Coventry, you might have to go into Birmingham or South towards west of the M25.

There is a chap that runs Northants Subaru, not a main dealer, an independent doing mechanical work only. Hopefully you can get hold of him on 01327 359933, Unit 24 Burcote Wood Business Centre, Towcester, NN12 8TA.

You could try API in Southam (near Leamington), I've not used them myself but have heard good things about them http://www.apiimpreza.com/

They quoted about £200 for a cambelt on my Legacy GTB

Thanks for the suggestions guys, i've tried phoning Northants Subaru, left a message and emailed, but no response yet......

A lad in work has recommended API too, so i'll give them a bell later.

(RCM have quoted £526, which is cheaper then the main dealers.)

Good to see RCM keeping their prices in check...so to speak They'll do a 1st class job but they do charge for it.

I presume all your quotes either includes your oil change as well, or is that just for the Cambelt change, and do they change the belt tensioner and idler pulleys as well.

Worth asking the question as generally speaking you should change the pulleys at same time.
