Anyone on here using a Hydra ECU, and if yes who maps it for you - ideally in the south east?

I've just picked up a spec c type ra that has one mapped on and I'm interested in maybe getting two maps on it.

Talk to Tractive. They are an official UK dealer for your EMS.

Richard at Tracktive is pretty much the only decent mapper in the UK who will touch the thing

I'm surprised Hydra isn't more popular. I've just had a look on their site and i have to say it looks a very comprehensively featured bit of kit with either a 2 stage or programmable knock control capability.

It looks pretty straight forward being plug and play with base maps ready to go for initial setup.

Is it a better setup than Simtek, come to that is it more expensive in the UK than Simtek??

The interface software is terrible, I know people who have spent literally days trying to map them, hence most people won't touch them. ticking boxes on a features list doth not a good ecu make.

The Simtek stuff is on another level compared to Hydra.

Exactly what I've read else where. It seems like the ECU in principal is ok, the ability to map it however is a nightmare.

Change of plan though, after a sedate drive across to Bristol today if I keep below 3k I can get a useable 220 miles from a tank so no need to look at the mapping, just need a lighter right shoe! That is easier said than done though as it just cry's out to be 'used'.

A certain mapper who shall remain nameless spent 2 days trying to map one, got fed up, slowly and calmly got out of the car, walked around to the drivers footwell, removed the ecu, deposited it in the nearest bin and walked off hehe
