Hi all,

had a stall from start up on my 03 blob wrx about 4 weeks ago, drove away , restarted with a CEL, tried the ignition key reset, didnt work so booked in with a local mate who reads codes cheap. Next day started up to go see him, CEL gone. Didnt think too much of it until today, started up reversed off drive and car stalled changing from 1st to 2nd. Started up and yup, CEL. Went straight to my mates garage and he read the code as primary fuel circuit fault, he asked if i wanted it clear so i said yeah, then i said oh wait what was the code number, ooops already cleared mate. doh lol.

I have a walbro 255 fitted and its been on 13 months, i had 3/4 tank, any ideas or suggestions?

Need to plug in a laptop with proper SSM (Subaru Select Monitor) lookup to check the fuel pump and other associated ancillaries.

Standard ODBII/EOBD diagnostics not in-depth or specific enough.

The code is Fuel Pump Primary Circuit (P0230).

Could be anything from a blown fuse to a knackered pump. Walbros are generally very relaible but not immune from going wrong. It happens.

Thanks, its all fine now so will monitor it. If it happens again I guess its seat out, panel off and checks on the pump time.

Pump outputs on these are stepped, dependent on demand. They run 33%/66%/100%. The other thing you might want to check is the fuel pump relay. That's located on the outside of the fuse box panel behind the alarm keypad, lower right hand side of the steering column.

If you don't hear the fuel pump priming when turning the ignition on then apart from a dead pump i'd be looking at faulty relay or immobiliser. In the case of the immobiliser playing up you can bypass it and wire from the ignition straight to the fuel pump just to get you out of trouble.

Other possible cause could be a crank sensor issue.

Hope some of this helps.
