poor starting - lumpy/misfire
Discussion
Hi ya...i was out yesterday and car was fine.....stopped for a few mins and went to start it and it would'nt start initially and then it turned over and ran at hardly any revs and lumpy....checked coil pack on top of engine, maybe a lead was loose.....took out connector on MAF and put back in and then it started and has been fine......could this be a coil pack problem coming on as there was no warning it just happened....thanks again for any comments...Andy
You did two things and then it started so it could be either coil pack issue or MAF sensor. It might have been just a bit of moisture, corrosion/oxidation on a plug which sorted itself when you plugged/unplugged said connectors.
It might also be indicative of a failing crank sensor. You'll never know now.
If you have no way of diagnosing a problem with the right equipment my philosophy is always to try one thing at a time, then try to start the car. If the last thing you did is successful you then know you might have a future issue with that particular component, and if the same thing happens again you know where to go straight to.
Saves you a lot of wasted time and head scratching.
