Hi ya....i have a classic impreza (UK) with windows that sometimes work and sometimes dont...it effects all 4 windows at the same time so it is'nt just one of them...and i have'nt pushed the "lock" button :-)..this is a real shot in the dark but is there a common problem that this maybe as i seem to have heard a few times about windows not working properly!!...i am not an electrician but any thoughts appreciated..Cheers Andy

I'd be checking the fuse box out making sure all fuses are working and secure in their holders. Maybe some moisture in there or oxidation on the fuse contacts making the problem intermittent.

Take the window switches out and give all the contacts a good clean. May well be you have some dodgy contact with moisture shorting out or oxidation on one of the plugs or connectors, or a switch is knackered inside in which case needs replacement.

Worse case scenario is issue somewhere in the loom caused by moisture, oxidation or broken wire. In which case you'll have to do some spreading of the loom to trace wires from the fusebox to the switches and check each one individually either by checking voltages or continuity testing. That would reveal a wiring issue if that's what's wrong.

Hi ya thanks for the reply.....its weird because it only seems to happen when the car is warm not cold so that may confirm the moisture theory???.....just wish i was an electrician now!!:-).......Cheers

Had the same on mine, it was a corroded terminal on the door harness plug inside the A pillar. You can get to it by taking off the kick panel in the drivers footwell.
