Well, for a couple of months now I've been lapping up the First Drive's and test track impressions, but still no firm news on price/specifications? Have any details been confirmed yet?
This looks like a landmark car for Subaru (& Toyota). With UK launch said to be only a few months away, would it really hurt to confirm pricing, specification and options?

not sure on pricing yet either, expecting c30 for my GT86.
Ive been told to expect c25/26 for the base model (although not really "base" model as the UK is getting it pretty much loaded - so dual zone climate control etc as standard)
When you order the Toyota version there are only a small number of options at present that you can Spec up on the system.
1) Paint - 1k/1.5k [optional Metallic/Pearlescent]
2) Trim - 1k [Heated Seats, half alcantara : Red or Black]
3) Transmission - £1.5k for the Auto [flappy paddles, 6 speed version of the IS-F's 8 speed auto box, lock convertor]
4) multimedia (Touch'n'go system) - £500
The optional extra prices are nto confirmed either, just what i was told to expect "in the region of"
Had mine on order since they started taking orders a few weeks ago.. its £1k deposit down.
Order form states an expected delivery date of June, but we're thinking more likely July.
I went Toyota over Subaru as my Mrs works for them, so although strickly no discounts, i can expect some cheaper servicing, and more importantly.. tyres! ... plus im rather keen on a few of the TRD options

What will be strange is GT86 owners putting their threads in JapChat and BRZ owners putting their threads in here, both just about the same cars mechanically, and no doubts both running similar/same aftermarket parts and well see if said owners come up with similar gripes.
I suppose we could let GT86 owners in...You're on the list sir!!
Be interesting to hear how things pan out in the end with stories about Toyota customer service compared to Subaru, cost of parts/consumables, breakdowns/faults etc... Presumably being the same cars everyone will get similar issues, except GT86 owners who will suffer brakes that makes cars go faster or sticky throttle pedals and things like that.

Suprises me I've heard nothing from Subaru? Own a GB270 full Subaru history etc. Wonder why they don't contact existing owners and drivers with info on such an important new car.
Was running a E30 M3 when the E46 M3 came out and although my car was no longer being looked after my BMW they still sent me an invite to the showroom launch of the E46. (Was funny, the E30 drew as much attention as the new car)

haha, cheers! sorry for the poor pic (phone)
It came from the garage i ordered mine at.. just shows the spec, plus a couple of the options (leather/heated we believe to be half alcantara/leather+heated)
I think the Subaru will be like for like spec as well in the uk?
on a tangent- I saw the bog standard car has also been independantly dyno'd and reached 170hp@wheels, so only 15% transmission loss..

My preference would be just to strip the thing out never mind add options. With a bit more tuning and less weight/draw on the engine i reckon this will make a cracking good trackday car/drift special.
Adding a small turbo, or even supercharging you could get a very respectable end result without impacting too much on the low end drive.
I wonder who is going to be first to bring out performance bolt-ons for these cars, or maybe i could just cobble something up from a TD04 and some piping.

Could you please translate that?ScoobieWRX said:

I do not know but I would have thought that with the engine running 12.5:1 compression not much boost could be added without lowering the compression ratio.regards

2nd comment....Despite the 12.5:1CR you can add a small turbo or supercharger with aftermarket manual or electronic boost control and small intercooler or chargecooler. You're not looking for massive amounts of boost to make another 50+bhp and in any case remapping the ECU with timing and fueling adjustments will make sure there's no knock and it all runs properly.
There are lots of physical mods to make in order to convert to FI but you can't do any of them unless you're going to remap at the end. Lowering CR would be great but not always necessary.

Initially, as world-wide demand is extremely high, they will bring in one variant of BRZ highest spec available is shown on the Allocation system as 'high spec'.
•17" alloy wheels
•Torque sensing rear LSD
•Subaru VDC
•ABS
•Front, side, curtain and knee airbags
•Cruise control
•Dual-zone automatic air-con
•Radio CD player with 6 speakers
•USB & iPod connector
•HID headlamps
•Front fog lamps
•LED Daytime Running Lamps
•Body coloured, electric folding, heated door mirrors
•Leather seats
•Heated front seats
•Keyless entry with Push Button Start
•Leather steering wheel & gear knob
Later in the year introducing a second derivative without the heated leather seats shown on the Allocation system as 'mid spec'
Following that, a further 'stripped out' derivative aimed at those customers who wish to tune and fettle the BRZ to their own specification will be made available shown on the Allocation system as 'low spec'.
As yet, naming conventions have not been decided hence, referring to the three models and high, mid and low spec.
Technical
Subaru have done everything they can to keep the weight and centre of gravity of the vehicle as low as possible. As we know, reducing body-roll is one of the key tenets of Subaru's engineering philosophy, as less body roll equates to greater stability and grip. As a result, the BRZ is an incredibly compact package: it is the world's smallest RWD 2+2 coupe (4,240mm x 1,775mm x 1,425mm) and has the lowest centre of gravity of almost any vehicle on the road: 460mm. This means more than half the mass of the car is below knee-height.
The BRZ features a 2.0litre FA Boxer engine with Direct Injection technology that produces 200ps and 205Nm of torque in a body that weighs just 1,220kg, that's a power to weight ratio of 164ps/tonne.
This all adds up to a driver focussed car intent on delivering the most engaging driving experience possible.
It will be available with 6 speed short-shift manual and paddle operated automatic gearboxes.
Colours
The BRZ will initially be available in two colours: Sterling Silver Metallic and WR Blue Mica. The latter being exclusive to Subaru. Later in the year as additional production becomes available we will also add four more colours: Satin White, Crystal Black Silica, Dark Grey Metallic & San Remo Red . As per the rest of the range, the special paint finishes will attract an additional charge.
