Legacy gen-4 door lights - what condition turns them on?
Discussion
I can't get my door lights to switch on. Thought the bulbs had blown so started looking at replacement LED versions on Ebay however I thought I'd test them with known-working bulbs first (that I took out of the interior light and map lights when I replaced them with LEDs) and I cannot get the bloody thing to light up in the door.
I've tried:
Engine off, ignition on, lights on, door open
Engine off, ignition off, lights on (although not working without ignition), door open
Engine on, ignition (obviously) on, door open.
What other situation would light this bugger up?
And if it's supposed to be one or more of the above, what else should I check (please)?

I've checked all the fuses this morning. The manual doesn't reference the door lights at all, with respect to a specific fuse. It does provide a specification for the bulb you should use, although doesn't give a "type", however that's the one and only reference to the door lights.
I'm stumped. And irked.

Do the cars interior lights come on when you open a door?
Yes, and the dash displaying which door is open registers too.If I knew which fuse their feed came from - better still if I had a wiring diag, I could chase back to where the feed stops working. Any ideas where I might get one from please?
