Heard so many people have these, I see they have been on offer for a while just want to know your thoughts as a replacement?

Cheap and therefore a good budget coilovers for street use. I have Teins which are actually not hat much more expensive...

Hoping to get some coilovers later this year and for the money, the reviews of the BC's certainly make them an attractive option. The only other ones I am considering are Meister-R's which are a similar price, unfortunately not many scooby's run these so not too many opinions about.

I've had the dreaded knocking sound that infamously occurs on the newages for some time now! So need to think about it!

Spray white lithium grease liberally on the strut. This will fix it for a while (I did mine 3 times)...

I got warning of my shocks needing replacing soon (see my thread in the forum). Someone on Scoobynet recommended this - how long did it reduce the knocking for?

2-3K miles... It's a short term fix really...

I had a knocking rear nearside shock on my WR1 (31k miles on clock) and was very tempted by BC coilovers but a crunching 4th syncro meant a gearbox strip was more important. Instead I bought 2x OEM KYB Ultra SR shocks from http://www.buypartsby.co.uk which came to around £210 delivered and then had them fitted for ~£100 locally. The old shock that came off had visible rubbing/score marks on the piston where it was moving around in the strut carrier. It must have also been seizing up as the new shocks have restored the ride quality, eliminating an increasing bounce from the knocking shock.

I am sure that given time the knocking will return and I will then reconsider coilovers - ideally I want to go KWv3 when funds permit.

Why do they consistantly suffer with knackered shocks? Is the geometry of the car an issue or the OEM parts used?

See this: http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.php/Knowledge/K...

Also, the guy that fitted my coilovers really does not rate BC's from a fitment point of view (not saying names, but a respected indy)...

Note that you can't get OE replacements from anywhere other than Subaru for 2005 cars and later as they are still on licence. I phoned camskill about 9 months ago and they told me this, however, things may have changed now... I believe KYB made the originals, so therefore if you replace with these expect the same to occur again...

Annoyingly I have Prodrive springs which I assume are fine? Is there anyway I can still utilise them as it would be a shame to get rid!

If you opt for the KYB Ultra SR replacement shocks (which should be fine if yours is the 03 model as in your profile) then you reuse your existing springs and top mounts (check they are in decent condition).

Interesting, which Tein shocks have you got and how do you rate them for durability/adjustability? What spring rates are you running?

Tein Super Street - roughly £700 plus fitting. Adjustable damper setting which I set half way for road use, and hardest setting for track days. For a true daily then I imagine they would get tiresome, however, for a weekend blaster they are excellent.

The guy that fitted mine got them for me and he is an authorised dealer, therefore probably gets a discount etc... Make sure you go out with somebody with coil-overs to work out if they are for you, especially if your car is a daily...
