The Official Swansea City Thread

Seeing as there seem to be a few of us on the Championship thread, and seeing as we are pushing for promotion to the promised land, why the hell not start a thread for the Wonderful Whites?!
8 games to go, Norwich being the big 6 pointer. Can we do it? Never has it been a more exciting time to be a Swans fan.
In Brendan's army I believe!!

I'm in
Having spent all of the nineties and the early part of the noughties (is that a word???) following the swans round the lower divisions, I am having to pinch myself with what is going on at the mo
Not old enough to have seen the glory days with toshack I really believe that I a finally going to see the swans play in the top division
I knew that the hard graft of going to see them play at wycombe and Kidderminster would one day pay off
Just hope the players believe as much as us lot
Jackarmy!!

Me too, I was just a young lad in the Jan Molby / Nick Cusack days.
Seen so many players come and go over the years, but it beggars belief that the likes of Tate, Britton and Monk have seen it at the bottom and now potentially might see it at the top!
Heard on the grapevine that Brendan is looking to get Danny Rose in on loan:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Rose
Another speedy-Gonzales ala Nath Dyer.
Personally, I think we need to get another defensive rock in to cover the back four - a shame the David Edgar loan did not go through. Williams looks a bit knackered...

I was speaking to Jan Molby on Friday night. He was doing a gentlemans evening at mountain ash workmans club. Still had a fondness for the swans. He told the story about being offered the swans job and not being sure wether to take the job. As he is big friends with Ian Rush he asked him should he take the job. Rushy told him to forget it as the welsh don't like the English lol!!
Got him to sign my playoff program from 96/97, the game we lost with a last min retaken free kick.
Jan really was very funny, and now he is BIG!!
My first game was back in 1987, and when I look through my old programs (I have loads) I smile at some of the crap I've watched play fir us! Cusacks team was a pearler!! I remember him signing all those free players, some who were once on Manures books and thinking we were going places!! Only place that team was going was the conference
Don't think Brendan will sign anybody else now as Monks back.
Wish I had a crystal ball to look 2 months into the future to give my nails some relief!!

My first game was against Burnley in '79 when i was 10, I still have the programme and the ticket stub is framed in my study !!! I went regularily when we were in the 'old' first division, I have a load of programmes in a box in the attick. At one evening game, my father and I turned up to find the match was a sell out (Arsenal I think). My father knew Harold Woolacott, the head groundsman, and he spotted us outside about to go home. He called us over, took us down a side entrance and let us sit behind the advertising along the side of the pitch with all the photographers. Brilliant.
The Hull game to keep us alive however, is the greatest game I've been to and lets be honest, if we'd dropped into the Conference, we would have gone under for sure.
If we play like we did against Fforest and Leeds, there is absolutely no reason why we can't make it to the top again.

The Nur here, checking in. Swans n00b if I am honest, lived in Swansea all my life but never really been into football, getting more and more interested over the last few seasons. Now they are looking to be in the best position for years I am finding it all rather infectious!
TBH, I was waiting for an official Swans thread to start up

You may find your blood pressure rises being a Swans fan - enjoy the ride!
Hi there, good to see a Swans thread start up.
I'm a Yeovil fan and our paths have crossed many times over the years. First game my twin sons saw was a win over the Jacks at Huish Park; remember playing you and losing 3-2 and the fans coming back about 9pm to join a queue that had formed for Liverpool FA Cup tickets... some people were out their house for 24 hours that day; Trundle scoring that unbelievable volley past Chris Weale at the Liberty one night... ah good times.
Selfishly, I'd like yo to get promoted this season as one of our best players, Shaun MacDonald is on loan at Huish Park. He's been fantastic for us in all his loan spells and off the pitch, he's brilliant with the media. He's with us as he's not in Brendan Rogers' plans so if you go up, maybe he'll come to us permanently.
Good luck anyway, hope you go up!

Shaun Mac is an interesting one.
All reports suggest that he is a Welsh Zidane on the training ground and playing for the reserves. He never seemed to cut it when given the chance in the first team though - must be a confidence thing. Great to see him enjoying his football at Yeovil though.
Trundle - cast iron legend.

It's time for Shaun Mac to leave us now and join you guys full time. While I have seen glimpses of what he can do, in reality he isn't going to get into our first 11 anytime soon so needs to join somebody (Yeovil) full time and get cracking on making a name for himself. He obviously likes it with you guys skit seems a no brainer to meI'm a Yeovil fan and our paths have crossed many times over the years. I actually feel sorry for the guy in a way because the better his home town team do, the less chance he's got of playing for them yet he can't just wish them bad form to get back into the team either.
He might be one of those players good enough for lower Championship / higher League One teams but can't quite make the step up one rung higher. I think (and hope) that Swans release him this summer after promotion to the PL, that would be a win-win situation.
I work in the media dept at YTFC and I have to say he's a dream to talk to because he never grumbles, always has the time to do the stuff and is a good laugh.
Obviously you guys would also know our technical coach, Darren Way. He spent six years with us winning everything but then went to you and sustained a shin injury meaning he could never really shine for you. Came back permanently to us then had a horrific car accident forcing his retirement from the game...so sad.

Aaaahhhh Darren Way. Always, and I do mean always played an absolute blinder against us for you guys. He was the typical terrier in midfield A lot like Leon Brittan for us now. Our medical department at the time needed shooting not spotting the shin splint trouble he had when we signed him. I know he is very well thought of by all at the swans (indeed he won clubman of the year one of the years he was injured)He might be one of those players good enough for lower Championship / higher League One teams but can't quite make the step up one rung higher. If you see him about the club give him my best My girlfriends parents live in devon and after his accident I saw him on the local news in the wheelchair. I know he is out of that now so I hope everthing continues to go well with his rehab
I really did not have a good feeling about Brendan Rogers when he took over especially as we looked like we could not score for love or money.....but now???? Please let us go up, just imagine getting the arsenal down the Liberty and giving them a footballing lesson
Oh and how much of a loss does it now seem after hearing Bale will miss the Wales v England game.......

Glad Scotty got through unscathed!
Priskin is an interesting one. Rodgers is clearly setting his stall out and saying he wants unlimited fire power in the run-up.
But what impact on the likes of Moore / Beattie who are dropping down the pecking order? Moore is presumably an investment in the future?
What it does signal is a vote of confidence in the back four. I would have liked some cover to be honest - all we need is for Monky and Taylor to aggravate their last injuries and we are in trouble.

If he can show he's recovered enough, I'm sure he'll be given some sort of contract, pay per play perhaps, or a one year deal with options. It'll be like having a new player and I can't see Pratley being here next season tbh.
Borini scored for Italy U21's against Germany during the break, so he's ticking over nicely !!

Last time I mention Shaun Mac on the thread but he was absolutely outstanding last Saturday. Playing against a Leyton Orient side unbeaten in six months at home, he ripped them apart in the first half with a hat-trick; first goal was a thirty yard screamer, second a shot at the near post and the third was a penalty.
Will be sad to see him go but I fancy he's good enough for middle-lower end Championship now.
