Anyone here follow a Championship team and fancy a discussion thread?

Coventry fan here, quietly optimistic of a top 6 finish.

You’re no alone mate. Long suffering Sky Blue here too, but since MR we’ve had good times

Rudoni is special.

Derby County fan, nice to be back up in the Championship.

Not sure I want us to be in the Prem, with VAR. I prefer celebrating a goal immediately.

Mid table this season and build and I'll be happy.

Going to the opener on Friday night at Blackburn, very much looking forward to it as don't get to many games each season due to my own refereeing.

Proper club, belong in championship.

I'm now kind of glad cov lost out to Luton in the playoff. Hamer and gyokeres were covering up a very average team and we had some luck with last minute goals. We would have been slaughtered in the PL!

Instead, the hamer and gyokeres money has built a strong squad with good depth thst will be needed come winter

Stoke fan here
Not looking forward to this season at all.
Squad is weaker than last season,we need to make some decent signings else I can see us in a relegation battle again.
Expecting your lot, Coventry,to give us a battering on Saturday.
I'm predicting Luton to win the league

Despite your owner being one of the richest families in the country! What's going on there?

Well she isn't the owner for a start. She has no interest in football.Bet365 are no longer involved,on paper, her brother John is now sole owner .
He's a massive Stoke fan but he's a bit clueless and let's others make the decisions. He'd spend upto the limits allowed but it's looking like we aren't an attractive proposition for good players when we've been bottom half of championship for 6 years and don't look like changing it this season.

Not a fan of a Championship club as such but will be watching a lot of Bristol City this season, mainly home games. And looking at the fixture list, will be watching Coventry City twice in the first month too!

Signs of promise towards the end of the season until the final day thumping by Stoke City - remains to be seem whether they've done enough in the transfer market to make the next step up to genuine playoff contenders. Foreign players coming in can be hit or miss and City have signed a number 9 in Fally Mayulu and an attacker in Yu Hirakawa, much will depend on those two freshening things up. Max Bird has looked good in pre-season too and they also have Josh Stokes to come in as well as the return of a couple from longer term injuries, Naismith and Benarous. Top scorer Tommy Conway is off, but to who? His goals will need replacing though many of his were spot kicks. One last final fling from Nahki Wells? Maybe another signing or two to come in, possibly Scott Twine to play as CAM?

Think they will have a good season finishing in that group around 8th-10th.

Pompey fan here. Most fans that I know are not optimistic about the new season. From the first team squad that we finished 2023/24 with, thirteen have left including four loanees. In return we have recruited (I think) six new faces, so we're light on numbers.

Meanwhile our top scorer, Colby Bishop, has been diagnosed with a heart condition and has undergone surgery, with no certainty of a return date. Our best defender, Regan Poole, suffered an ACL injury last November and is not yet ready.

I think we'll really struggle this season, starting with an away trip to Leeds on Saturday: eek! Right now, I'd take fourth from bottom at the end of the season.

Leeds fan.

I was dreading last season but we were much better than I expected. We have Summerville's goals to replace somehow, but it really is up to Gnonto and Rutter to do that I feel. Plus I can see Mateo Joseph emerging with a bit of a bang - 10+ maybe. Other than this, stability might help us and ideally rediscovering the defence of the majority of last season that was so rock solid.

I'm hoping really that at least one of the relegated sides doesn't do too well, Sheff U maybe. Undecided about Burnley and Parker. Luton will probably be good.

As for the rest, it's a difficult existence in the middle, we did it for years before Bielsa. You just hope you can get a magic formula and get yourselves to playoffs, sure there'll be a bit of surprise as there usually is.

Pompey first day - a morale boosting thrashing would be nice but it's Leeds so it clearly will be tense.

Sheff Utd fan glad to be back in the Championship biggrin

Just when I thought last season's start was a corker, we continue selling our best players (and some of our worst - adios McBurnie) and buying....well not much, unless you include loaning cast offs.

7th would be a strong season. We should not be striving for promotion.

Targets this year:

1) Stay in the division
2) Finish above our neighbours
3) Maybe a cup run

Wednesday fan here.. Not sure what to expect this time around. Danny Rohl seems to know what he's doing and we've had a good Summer transfer-wise.

Hopefully a comfortable mid table finish but if we carry on the momentum from the end of last season who knows. We certainly can't make as bad a start as we did last time around!

Not worried either way about the mob from across town.. concentrate on executing our plan and see where it takes us.

I'm a Norwich season ticket holder; fully expecting a season of 'transition', some good, some bad and hopefully another playoff finish. Still wish the transfer window coincided with the start of the season, so we have an idea of what we're playing with!

No mention of us scoring 2 though scratchchin

Went to the game. Think I enjoyed being sat in traffic on the A50 on the way there than the actual game itself laugh

Not the start we wanted but we can't change it now, hopefully we get a kick up the bum and start bringing the positive results in.

Chesterfield in the cup on Tuesday which I'm also going to, lost 4-0 to them in pre season, so I'm not that confident at the moment about that...
