Who would you like to see in charge next? It's a bit like the next Bond hehe

I personally don't care if he isn't English. Not sure who would make me show more interest in England TBH; I wouldn't mind someone who has a Roy Hodsgon-esque outburst in him hehe but that isn't going to happen. He will have to be squeaky clean, no skeletons and an absolute company man.

Paul Merson threw Frank Lampard's name into discussion. Dunno about that when you look at what the candidate criteria is for the role:

The role...

Lead and develop the England senior men's team to win a major tournament and be consistently ranked as one of the top teams in the world.
Provide inspiring leadership to a world class, multi-disciplinary technical team based at St. George's Park.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clubs who employ English qualified players.

The successful candidate...

Will hold a UEFA Pro License.
Will have significant experience of English football, with a strong track record delivering results in the Premier League and/or leading international competitions.
Will be an exceptional leader who understands and will enjoy the international football environment.
Will be experienced in successfully identifying, managing and developing English qualified players.
Will be highly resilient and comfortable in a very high-profile role with intense public scrutiny.
Will have a track record of creating a high performing, positive team culture and environment.
Will have strong personal values and integrity and understand and embrace the role that the England Men's Senior Team Head Coach has inspiring the nation.

I think merson has been back on the booze again if he thinks that A) Lampard has even the slightest of chances and B) He could actually do the job.

In all fairness Lampards managerial record is no better or worse than Southgate's .

It sure any top flight hands on manager would want it tbh

No top flight manager is going to want to give up their job. Talks of Klopp and are mental and never going to happen.

It will be Potter or Howe I think.

Given the amount of money pumped into St George's it would be odd for them to appoint a foreign manager. Even Carsley could be given a shot.

Pep couldn't care less about money, he's already worth around £200m.

Hope it's not Potter even though I think he's going to be the FA's fave, I'd like it to be Howe but don't think he will leave Newcastle unless sacked.

G O'Neill could also be very possible.

I’m not a footy guy so don’t understand all of the politics but why is there hate for Southgate?

He’s managed to get us to the finals twice. Sure, we didn’t win and came second.

Thats pretty awesome going!

Out of how many top notch teams?

Judging by my wife's hints to him, through out the tournament (often screamed at him via the telly...she won't be told that it's not zoom, and he can't hear her), I honestly think my wife might be in the running.

Seriously, lets not bother with a manager. Let's have an on line poll, to select the squad, and let them organise their own practise sessions on a primary school field in Aston.
I'm sure all the players know how to play football, and after a few sessions a natural leader will come out, and the 30 can select their own starting team and captain.
fk the coaches. Each player can invite one helper be it physio, or wife to each training session. And they should bring thier own ball.

That's the thing. All these players are paid ££££££s to be able to know how to play football. They should know, where their own strengths and weaknesses are. Why do.they need a manager ? They just need to thrash out with the other players what they can do for the others when they are on the pitch and what they need in return from.the others.

Let's not have a manager.

It will be potter as he is available.

Pep, has a fantastic record but only at big clubs where he can spend money. Lets see how he does with Wigan or Stoke. Yes he could extract a lot more out of the England players than Southgate but doubt he will be interested. Hell end up going PSG or Juve/MIlan/Inter next.

Successful management at club level in no way guarantees suitability for international football. A totally different discipline.

The talk of Pep and Klopp is both ridiculous and a bad idea anyway in my opinion. Both need a lot of time with players and a wide choice to bring in for their style of football to work, neither of which they will get at international level.

Spain just played the best football and won a tournament with the guy who came through their youth system in charge, and as Carsley won the U21 Euros last year with players like Gallagher, Palmer, Elliot and Gordon in his squad I’d give him a crack at the senior team as has earned the chance IMHO.

“ England won their third title by defeating Spain 1–0 in the final. They became the first team to win the UEFA European Under-21 Championship without conceding a single goal in the entire tournament.”

Spain won by playing the same style of play as they all play at their clubs and all through their youth system. The England players play like Spain at their clubs, but Southgate wanted them to play like West Ham.

He is so committed to his new job at Plymouth, that he is not even bothering to bring his family down to the south west to live. He will be gone by Christmas.

There are rumours that this will be his last season at City

The England job e would be perfect for him & the fans would love it , well I know I would .

It's not as crazy as you'd think I mean where else can he go ? I can't believe he's money motivated neither .

Please make it happen .
