Managerial merry go round
Discussion
With the news that Pochettino has left Chelsea that means there are quite a few managers without jobs now and quite a few top(ish) roles available, or likely to be available in the coming weeks & months.
Does anyone fancy making some wild guesses / inspired selections as to where this lot could end up. I’ve thrown in a couple of wildcards as well, just to stir things up. Just a bit of fun to maybe keep us going for the next three weeks until the Euros start and everyone starts laying into Southgate
Mourinho
Pochettino
De Zerbi
Klopp
Tuchel
Southgate - is his time at England up? Is he any good really?
Amorim - think he’s said he’s staying put although money talks
Ten Hag - likely to be sacked after the weekend
Howe - is he in danger at Newcastle?
McKenna - will he leave Ipswich? Is it too big a risk as he’s so inexperienced?
Xavi Hernandez - he still seems to be trying to get out of Barcelona
Chelsea
Brighton
Manchester United - possibly
Newcastle United - will they sack Howe?
Bayern
Barcelona - see above
West Ham - added as per Ascayman’s comment below.
Plus the Real job is likely to be available after next season, possibly even this close season if Ancelotti walks away.
I’ve probably missed a few teams & managers off the list.

So your managerial merry go round has five managers out of work and six that are still in jobs?
It’s all about rumours and I did say I’ve thrown some wildcards in to stir things up. I think Barca will wave a huge numbers under Klopps nose. I think he'll take atleast a year out though.
Has ETH really underperformed that badly? Utd have an average team despite the astronomical wages and there's clearly allsorts of ste going on behind the scenes.
Chelsea are a basket case, I hope it goes spectacularly wrong for them again.
Poch to Bayern and Tuchel back to Chelsea maybe?
Southgate to Utd would make my day
Wonder how long Slot will get if things start badly. I'd hope he gets a decent run but if we're out of the CL before the year is out and mid table then people are going to get jittery.

Yeah, Howe purely to stir st, nice one
Still feel he's the right man for that job. They've had horrendous injuries but should be back fighting for a CL place next season. fourstardan said:
Management in football just isn't the same anymore. Clubs are now run by idiots who employ more idiots.
Alonso not losing a game all season with a team who nearly got relegated the year before provides evidence to suggest this.
Maybe the new norm is short term only?
exactly this! Manchester city were the pioneers of the short term manager back in the day- installing a revolving door on the office and chopping managers on a whim with spectacularly bad results. Poch at Chelsea (finally getting some cohesion-despite being the owners personal fantasy team) and Alonso at Leverkusen (dreadful start- brilliant 2nd season) are the polar opposites of the philosophy and the results speak for themselves.

Can’t see how Alonso’s first season was horrible. He came in after 8 matches with them second from bottom. He took them to a 6th place finish in his 26 matches in charge. Doesn't really matter as none of the current managers are outperforming their wage bill.
The entire premiership is basically just a product of the wage bill (with the exception of Manchester United who are spectacular in underperforming).
If you want to win the premiership you need to pay top money and outspend the opposition.
If Poch managed Man City they would be top, if Ang Managed Man City they would be top. If Ten Haag managed Man city they would be top half of the table. That is pretty much it.

Really interested to see him take a step up - he's done great things this season.Geuinely think we could avoid relegation with him (not easy, but it would be possible)
Without him, it's a cast iron certainty.
Always thought Brighton would be the ones to get him, they're still in the running, but not clear cut.
Don't think he'd take the Chelsea gig, as mad as that sounds to non-Ipswich people, but he's pretty grounded, very methodical and believes in stability and building things. Chelsea doesn't look like that (at the moment). Plus he's the manager at Ipswich which was what he wanted too, not just a coach.
He's a life long United fan, so if, as many expect, ETH goes after the weekend and that job comes up, he'll most certainly fancy it, whether United take that risk remains to be seen, but Arteta, Pep, all went from assistants to top jobs, McKenna arguably better qualified than those two.

It wasn't long ago he was being hounded out of United by some fans because they felt he was a rubbish coach, and was the reason for Ole's failure.

I think he'll stay at Ipswich (watch that call go spectacularly wrong) as the options are either chaotic big clubs or smaller ones that ultimately won't offer more medium term potential than Ipswich but carry a load of risk.Geuinely think we could avoid relegation with him (not easy, but it would be possible)

He also has a lot of influence and little interference where he is which will be very liberating. The speculation won't harm his remuneration negotiations though.
The Juve job is probably up for grabs too.
