I've been wondering if anyone here is actually involved (in a working capacity) with football? I'm thinking more back room staff rather than players. Anyone?

You'd need to be more specific. At what level and in what capacity?

I know people in non league and the professional leagues.

Professional level. Any league and any capacity but back room staff rather than players. So it could be ground staff, marketing, media, corporate hospitality etc.

I was being quite vague I know because I wasn't sure if anyone here would be involved.

Edit: I was asking mainly out of curiosity but just to add that I'm involved with a big European club.

I used to work match days in the pie and beer stands, washed up in the kitchens and occasionally managed to get into the hospitality boxes. Not high up enough to actually know anything interesting. I'm fairly sure I would have passed a few players

A few tales have stuck with me though.

"Sorry but we only have vegan pies left"

"Vegan?, VEGAN! What the fk is a VEGAN pie"

"Well it's got vegetable curry instead of meat,"

"We're from Sheffield mate, you're not going to sell any fking vegan pies to us, bet you haven't sold a single one of those today have you?

He was absolutely right hehe

Brighton and Hove fans were the most middle-class bunch I ever met, it was almost like a rugby match.

Not to mention the poor soul who perfectly timed his toilet breaks to miss all three goals of a Premier league match and left early in bitter disappointment. Five minutes before full time he was commiserating with us at the bar about his truly awful luck.

"I can't believe it, I've missed every fking goal in this mat-

All of a sudden an almighty roar arose from the stands smile

"Oh fking hell..."

Thanks BritishBlitz97 Some funny stories there. I'm sure you have many more tales to tell.

I work with the media (TV, radio, journalists and photographers) on matchdays which means I have a lot of contact with players and coaching staff (Men's and and Women's 1st teams). I do have some contact with supporters but not that much. But of course, it's 'our' supporters I speak to so they're all very friendly.

It's a world away from what I did before but it's great fun and a privilege to be involved with 'the wonderful game'. Tough though when results go the wrong way. I can tell you the dressing room is a tough place to be in after a poor performance.

BTW. I'm not expecting anyone to name the club or clubs they've worked with (unless people want to). I'm just interested to know about people's involvement in football from a work perspective.
