After a 5 hour drive on Friday, with the last 2 hours being just from Hangar Lane gyratory to the car park ( redface ) - any recommendations for places to park and train it in? Gerrards Cross?

Depends what route you are coming in on.

Rickmansworth is a good option and only a couple of minutes from J18 of the M25

Can you not park locally at a train station and train and tube it? There is a very cheap weekend ticket for travelling from outside London using one main route in and unlimited inner london for train, tube and bus. I used it for the NFL games, cost under £30 return.

Train all the way is an option if we can get sensible price tickets, there are 5 of us and off peak return is circa £100 on the day.

I used the Super Off-Peak Day Travelcard, showing as £88.50 for 2 adults and 3 children from where i live if you use the group save option on trainline.
For 5 adults it's £98.
Seems a decent cost option for 5.

We also park at high wycombe and get the train in straight to Wembley. Easy, quick and straightforward getting back home at the end of the game.

I know trains can be expensive, but can you not book in advance?

I park at the O2 Centre on Finchley Road. 7 mins on the Met Line and 1 stop to Wembley Park (bit longer on the Jubilee line I think)

Under an hour from seat to M1 after the final whistle

Parking was £15 as we were just over 5 hours, otherwise it would have been £10

High Wycombe is the place to go, trains from there to Wembley are quick, direct and cheap.

Or you could try supporting Fulham, then you'll never be bothered with travelling to Wembley ever again.

Yep Stanmore, only 20 mins to Wembley, use it quite a lot for the 02 and for a season and a half when Spurs were playing there, never had any issues parking, a lot of the commuter parkers have started to leaving by 5ish

My father-in-law parked here for the play-off final at Wembley when they hosted a fan zone prior to the play-offs.

Same here, plus most residents with driveways seem to be on the parking apps so there are loads of options on Just Park and Park on my Drive if Stanmore station car park is full.

But Stanmore is a poor option if you are not coming in from the North so it really does depend where the OP is coming from.
