Friend of mine is currently visiting the UK. He is American and he is staying in Mayfair. He likes sports and on his bucket list is to go and watch a match at a British pub where he can get a watch a game of football and experience a something of the famed rowdy football "pub" experience. The game he wants to watch is Man City vs Arsenal tomorrow (Sunday 8th Oct).

I'm clueless about football - does anyone know of a good pub around the Mayfair area where he can get a good boisterous football pub experience watching this game?

Just watch it in your house and throw some drinks over him then fight him during the game.

Lol. I presume there must be some pubs near to the Emirates Stadium, which will only be a short taxi ride away from Mayfair, where he could try to get to?

The Emirates isn't a short drive from Mayfair.
The Tollington - Hornsey Rd if he wants a locals pub.
Otherwise somewhere in Leicester Square.

I'm guessing it's about 4 to 5 miles. From Green Park tube, 5 or 6 stops maybe on the Piccadilly line.
