The Lionesses - England Football Team
Discussion
After the wonderful win at Wembley against Germany last Sunday (2-1), I'm keen to follow the Lionesses and seeing where they go now.
I believe they have a friendly against the USA arranged, subject to England qualifying for the World Cup tournament 2023.
The tournament itself takes place in Australia and New Zealand between July 20th and August 20th.
Here is some more about the players who competed in Euro 2022...

Why do they insist on passing back to the goalkeeper from attacking positions.
It cost them a goal tonight and it is not good for my blood pressure.
You've got to give credit to the US girls for their high pressing game which they kept up right to the end, they must be bloody fit. It cost them a goal tonight and it is not good for my blood pressure.

With a 90,000 crowd (reported, i wasn't there) can we put to bed the idea womens football is a woke obligation nobody wants to watch?
Not that anyone should be forced to, but its surely no longer intellectually honest to say “no one likes it” outside of solipsism.
I think it's often a decent watch, and my two boys prefer watching it to the men's game...Not that anyone should be forced to, but its surely no longer intellectually honest to say “no one likes it” outside of solipsism.
But I think it's still a bit too soon to tell.
Let's see how it goes after the next big tournament. Then the real test will be how club football viewing figures go - they typically rise after big tournaments, but in the past have dropped away.
The double-edged sword of all this, if attendances and viewing figures hold up/increase, is that money will start to flood the game. Which will bring all the downsides - lopsided competition, gamesmanship etc.
An incident from the WSL last weekend.

A surprising lack of news coverage considering the scale and violence of the incident.

Mmm. In that situation, what is the thing to do. After a player fouls you, holds onto you, rough handles you, then pushes you. Obviously it’s not to defend yourself. You will only get sent off.https://twitter.com/ThisIsMcCann/status/1581296859...

So I guess. She should have just fell on the ground.
