So Italy have failed to qualify for the WC, beaten in the play off semi by the mighty North Macedonia. They failed to qualify for the last WC also. In between, they won the Euros.

A lot of crowing about this on the internet, by I'm quite sad. Traditionally, with England being useless, I always used to latch on to Italy as my second team to follow in the latter stages. I loved their journey thru the 82 WC, Rossi's hat trick v Brazil and the now famous Tardelli scream in the final.

Hopefully England can have another long run and keep me interested.
