Can I use free football tickets?
Discussion
Hi all,
A friend bought two tickets for his colleagues for the FA Cup match between Chelsea and Chesterfield at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Those people can no longer make the trip and so the friend has offered to give them to me.
He’s sent me the tickets as pdf files and the names of the two guys who were going are in the tickets. The ticket doesn’t say that is has to be used by the named person, but my question is will I get asked for ID to get in? They are adult tickets and I went to go with my 10-year-old son.
It’s a fair trek for me so I only want to go if I know I can use them.
All help appreciated.

Chelsea fan here. You almost certainly won't have an issue. You'll need to show a covid pass, but just flash your QR code at them. The people who check the covid pass don't look at the tickets. You scan the ticket QR code at the turnstile and it lets you in. Normally have to make sure the ticket matches the type of person (junior/adult/OAP). A different colour light comes on at the turnstile for each of those 3, and there's someone checking to make sure a 30 y/o Isn't using a junior or OAP ticket. But they probably won't care about a kid using an adult ticket, because he's paying over the odds. If they ask, just say your mate couldn't come so you brought your son. I'd scan him in first, push him thru fast and then do you right after. They won't want the hold up caused in questioning you.
Enjoy the game, I'll be there too. First time we've played non league opposition in the cup from memory, even Lukaku might score!

Thanks all.
TwigtheWonderkid, would my son also need a COVID pass as that’s not something I have even looked into (because of his age)? The tickets suggest we could bring a negative lateral flow test for him/me instead.
Looking forward to it a lot - I haven’t watched Chelsea in person in many years - but a bit scared we’re going to be denied entry with those tickets and I’ll be left with one very disappointed son.

You don't need a Covid pass for anyone under the age of 18 at Spurs, so I guess it's will be the same at all PL clubsTwigtheWonderkid, would my son also need a COVID pass as that’s not something I have even looked into (because of his age)? It was ten years ago but I used to regularly go to the bridge with someone else’s season ticket from a group when one of them couldn’t make it. Nothing ever said. They’ve got 50k people to get in, they just want to check you’re not taking anything offensive in and don’t care who you are.

Basically this. To be on the safe side, arrive about 5 or so mins before ko, when they are at their busiest and trying to get everyone in on time. The last thing they want is to hold up the flow with questions about ticket ownership. It's a 5:30 ko tomorrow.Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
