Tough game today away at Oxford

The club with the lowest wage budget in League 1 has a major injury crisis

10 of the 18 players in the squad for the victory away at Charlton in January are out injured.

Stanley’s form has dropped off in the past 6 weeks with injury list growing and any hopes of a playoff push are starting to fade.

Chairman is well worth a follow on Twitter.

Always going to be tough for Stanley being between Blackburn and Burnley, but it's a great club who do a lot in the community.

Hope you can sort the drainage on your proposed training complex - they've always been boggy to say the least.

My son was a player escort a while ago, and the club really looked after him and his mates, and standing at a football match was a new experience for them!

Fantastic win against the odds, John Coleman genius strikes again with his team set up.

I must add, part of the victory was due to how bad Oxford played, a shadow of the team we played at the Kassam last season.

Oxford fans would know better, but is there an argument Karl Robinson should have moved on last summer when they just missed out on promotion?
Always difficult to get going again in such a competitive league 1 this season.

Only ever heard of Accrington Stanley twice.
Once on the Milk Advert.
And about 10 years ago when I drove there to buy a Shotgun Safe!

Worst performance of the season by some distance against a AFC Wimbledon team who look very good.
How they are fighting relegation based on yesterday’s performance is puzzling.

Stanley next in action on Tuesday vs Blackpool.
Normally I would expect them to bounce back from a defeat even a heavy defeat but the manner of yesterdays performance points towards a team who are not getting relegated and who realise promotion push is a step to far.

I always liked a trip to Stanley (I’m a Notts County supporter) but we always lost. The away stand is that close to the pitch you can shout at the players!

The stewards were great as well, really friendly and always used to offer football books to my lad.

I’m hoping we get promoted soon for another trip but I fear it may be a few years away!

A 0-0 bore draw by all accounts, neither team willing to risk too much over protecting a clean sheet.

Stanley 7 points of the playoff spots, looks too much of an ask for them to win all their remaining games to have any chance of making the playoffs with such a big injury list.

It would be good for Stanley to get into the championship but it would be a real shock for them. At least they have kept themselves in league 1 for another year and it looks like Bolton may come back up.

Well, we seem to be on a roll, with a 3-0 win over Ipswich tonight! And being 2-0 up before they lost a man.

I don’t rate Ipswich, watched them this season and thought they are over rated especially in midfield where they are poor.
The likes of Bishop, Edwards, Dozell, etc are all over rated.
There best striker Jackson doesn’t seem to get a start which is even more bizarre.

I think Paul Cook will find it harder at Ipswich than he envisaged; getting rid of half the squad who are on inflated wages for league 1 won’t happen this summer, he will be stuck with a lot of the players until their deals run out.

Another poor performance against a Rochdale team who simply wanted it more and played well

Rochdale’s 2nd and 3rd goals from a Stanley perspective where shocking, the reserve keeper Savin had a mare for both.
He is still young and raw, has huge potential but these kind of mistakes are expensive and have cost any last hope of making the playoffs.
Chelsea loanee keeper Baxter has been sorely missed

Doncaster on Tuesday, a team like Stanley who have been out of form but won away at Shrewsbury yesterday.
John Coleman admitted he gave the Stanley players the hairdryer treatment on Saturday at half time for the first time in a long time; I can see Stanley bouncing back with a win.

Interestingly Paul Cook Ipswich manager agrees

“There is no throwing players under the bus. There is no excuses offered.

“We’re a million miles from a good team and that includes myself and the staff tonight. You win together, you lose together, we travel away together and we have each other.

“Like I say, I’ve been managing a long time now and the best feeling as a manager is when you put a team on the pitch that you trust. I don’t trust our team and I’m going to be open and say that.

“That doesn’t mean everyone is a bad player and everyone is doing something wrong, but we’re miles off it, we’re just miles off it for our club.”

I missed the best quote

“That we don’t put crosses in the box, we don’t create chances, we don’t defend well, we don’t defend set pieces well, we don’t retain possession of the ball, we’re not very fit, we’re not very athletic. You can write a list of what we’re not really good at”

A nice win and it should have been a far bigger score line.

Doncaster are one of the worst teams to have played Stanley this season.

But as bad as Doncaster played, Stanley continue to fail to capitalise on golden chances and had to rely on 2 pens despite 26 attempts on goal compared to Doncaster’s 4!

Sunderland on Saturday and I fancy Stanley to give them a game,

Sunderland away tomorrow

Despite Sunderland being 3rd and Stanley in 12th, just 11 points separates them,

I’m expecting a Stanley draw as a minimum, hopefully a victory

1st half, Sunderland came out like a train, aided mcgeady has still got the quality and was causing all sorts of problems.

2nd half, Stanley should have won it, they battered Sunderland and got caught out on the break for Sunderlands 3rd.

While a draw away at Sunderland looks good on paper, Stanley should have won.

Looks like Stanley will fall short of the playoffs and no doubt lose a few players to bigger clubs.

Up next is Pompey who need to win to stay in the playoffs , tough game to call

I'm a lifelong Pompey fan, Accystan, and the the good news for you is that you will easily win tomorrow night. We have a mediocre squad, but with several injuries are having to play the same team every game. They've run out of legs, especially because Danny & Nicky Cowley are trying to impose a very different style to what Jackett had employed. The players can't cope; they're not fit or good enough for the fast-passing, high energy game that the Cowleys want.
Next season could be much better with a change of players and more time to adjust, but we'll still be in League One.
Oh, Callum Johnson has proved to be a good signing among the rubbish players that Jackett signed. One of the few bright spots in a strange and frustrating season.

I think the Cowleys will be good, but as you say they need there style of player, something they struggled with at Huddersfield.

Can see it being a draw tonight, John Coleman isn’t fond of rotating his squad.

Stanley out a lot into the 2nd half at Sunderland, it’s got to have an effect.
