Looks like this has again been spearheaded by Liverpool and Manchester United but with Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City also looking to join.
It's being backed by FIFA.
"Sky News has learned that financiers are assembling a $6 billion (£4.6 billion) funding package to assist the creation of what could become known as the European Premier League. More than a dozen teams from England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain are in negotiations about becoming founder members of the competition."
Provisional start date of 2022.
Sources said that FIFA, football's world governing body, had been involved in developing the new format, which is expected to comprise up to 18 teams, and involve fixtures played during the regular European season.

I'm not sure I like the implications of the format or the name or the association of the "Big Six" with the instigation of it.
Will places be reserved in the new European Premier League for the Big Six clubs and others from Spain, Germany etc?
The term European 'Premier League' also hints at a downgrading of the English 'Premier League'.

In effect it's a revamped Champions' League, to replace the existing one. The domestic league will continue as before (for now).
Agreed, although the article suggests founder clubs would be safe from relegation for at least 20 years, so it's another blatent attempt by the big clubs to cement their position at the top rather than a genuine competition open to everyone.I'd be more supportive if it didn't have that proviso, a 3 or 4 tier European league played alongside domestic competition would be a fair compromise.
Logistically I don't understand where they'd fit these fixtures; 18 teams would give each participating team at least 34 games (not including the suggested play-offs at the end of the campaign).
I think this plan would have to cannibalise existing domestic fixtures.
Not a fan at all personally.

Remove the clubs from the national league and let them play in European league, everyone would be happy.
How would everyone be happy? When the Premier League next comes to sell the TV rights around the world, and instead of getting 11 billion to share out, they get £4.20, because Liverpool, Man U etc aren't in it, and no one in Singapore or the UAE gives a fk about Burnley, how will that make the clubs happy? If a set of American business owners want to make a large amount of money from a sealed league I couldn't careless.
If the teams outside this super league have far less money and therefore pay their players a lot less I couldn't careless.
I'd be more than happy to see most teams scale down and provide sporting entertainment for those who live in their geographical catchment areas. If the cost of that is a handful of super wealthy teams who are completely disconnected from their places of origin go their own way I'd have no problem.

Let them resign but if they want to rejoin then they do so in the 8th tier.
Fans won’t be able to afford to go home and away, the premier league will be massively impacted in a financial sense.
Will the new league And the clubs allow their players to play for national teams? So many questions and looks like Spurs would miss out

To be honest I can't see it happening, I think it's more an attempt by the big clubs to force more concessions from the FA or UEFA, such as a bigger share of the prize money, etc.
It's all very well suggesting a Euro league comprising of the 18 biggest clubs, but how do you decide which 18 clubs are the biggest? Yes, you have the obvious ones like Man U, Liverpool, Real, Barca, Juve, Milan, Bayern, but when you get to 15, 16, 17... how do you pick between Spurs, Ajax, Porto, or Benfica?

You may not, and that's your view, but as said, most do.

Not, the other 14. Most fans of Burnley, Bournemouth, and the rest want to see Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal etc play their team, with the superstar footballers that come with them. And they want their own club to be able to attract good players too.

My BiL was supposed to travel over from Australia earlier this year. As a lifelong Bournemouth supporter he was looking forward to watching them play Man U and Spurs in the PL. Obviously Covid put a stop to that (followed by their relegation), but it's still has ambition to watch them play the big boys.
I'm a Saints fan and if you lost the "big 6" I'll admit the PL would lose a big part of its appeal for me.

So how would they possibly fit in 34 domestic games & 34 European games? Plus the FA cup etc.
For a start...(theoretically under the current set up and assuming a team made it to every final, you have 38 PL games, 13 European, 6 FA Cup & 6 League Cup. So possible if you withdrew from the Cup competitions and lost 2 teams from the PL... not that I'd support this.)

Sure, but then every club in European competition bemoans the number of fixtures now and it would be worse. 34 European games is just absurd overkill as well, I'd have zero excitement for it. Then the closed shop for the likes of Leicester who had a fantastic CL run.(theoretically under the current set up and assuming a team made it to every final, you have 38 PL games, 13 European, 6 FA Cup & 6 League Cup. Think that would be it for me and top-level football. Be off down Sutton Utd every other week instead.
