I understand the whole concept behind it but why do the FA decide to cover the player names so that they arent on the shirt at all. Atleast put the names lower down on the shirt so I can see who is who?

Am I meant to have a list of player names/numbers in front of me?

Will it make a difference & raise awareness? About the same as the Kick it Out campaign made.

The NHS heart tribute is a good touch but surely 'All Lives Matter'.

Apart from that, what's puzzling is the need for some of the people there wearing face masks, I thought everyone in there had been tested and proved clear so there should be no need in a proven covid free area ? Unless they're not 100% sure about the testing.

It's only for the first twelve matches, ie it will finish this weekend. Not a moment too soon either.

Lineker tweeted earlier in the week "I've got a tenner on Black Lives Matter to score first" and got shredded for it.

Blimey I forgot about that. Where was FIFA’s indignation about ‘political symbols’ this time?

It's doubly odd from FIFA given what's going on in Qatar. Goes without saying that the FA won't be sending a team there now though, I guess that's why they've not announced that decision.

All these clubs and players supporting BLM. Does that mean they all want the Police defunding? Also, the PL showing support for the NHS whilst BLM protestors are quite the opposite. The irony. Quite frustrating to see.

What I find a little odd that during the lead up to the liverpool game we have a lengthy vid for BLM, kits devoted to it, knees taken at kick off, and a mins silence for covid, but not a single mention of a terrorist attack on our soil the day before when 3 innocent blokes had the throats slit.

It doesn't really bother me. What bothers me is that with no sound the commentators are more muted than usual. In essence, the lead commentator is a paid showman, they could at least add some buzz to proceedings!

Because was an international rule preventing the use of political symbols by the international body which does not apply in the regional leagues.

//not a football fan in anyway but this wasn’t hard to find out.

Football has been running a prostate cancer awareness campaign for about 3 years now. Not once have I heard anyone say "surely all cancers matter".

The difference is the fact it didn’t replace the player names nor have the players kneel first.

I haven’t seen “all healthcare systems matter” either yet people are happy to have the nhs badge.

People didn’t complain with the other anti racism things which have been on the go for years in the premier league.

Considering the amount of posters on the footy forums not many are objecting to the message the players are trying to send. It was driven by black players and their team mates are supporting them. I can’t see all these people complaining? Where are they?

Your comparison with the support for the NHS Is hardly the same, particularly as there is actually only one NHS.

Football pages on facebook are full of people complaining about it, might not be on PH but it is there.

My complaint is with replacing the players names, I dont care about the actual movement being there but to replace the players names is poor. The message is fine. I dont want the NHS/Prostate Cancer/Whatever else replacing the names as I like to know who the players are.

Only 1 NHS in the uk but lots of different healthcare systems worldwide who the premier league is broadcast to. Look at all the non uk based sponsors.

So Internet forums? I’m also going to hazard a guess that the vast majority objecting are also white. Have you see the reaction after the fools from Burnley tried the all lives matter banner?

This was a one off exercise for the first 12 games. As it’s more than a logo on a shirt in this case it has created conversation where it’s needed and highlighted there are still many who need educating. That’s not directed at you.

But how the hell did we cope watchIng football pre 1993 when none of the players had names on their shirts? The black players in this country still feel there is a long way to go.

Shirts are back to normal from tonight though so your enjoyment of the game will be restored.

AMG it might be because people are sick to death with it being shoved down their throats with not much substance behind it, particularly in this country this almost becomes bit of crying wolf. Barely any people on this planet disagree with the fact that black lives matter OR all lives matter but unfortunately BLM movement is not just about Black Lives, it's about a lot more than that of which I strongly disagree with. I certainly don't want this crap in football nor do I wish for the league to claim they're 100% correct, I just want to watch footy. The Premier League itself is extremely multicultural, who else exactly are they preaching too.

Oh I'm white too, is that OK?

People just want to see a ball kicked about, it's sport and should remain purely sport.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the popularity of football with it now spread over multiple providers (SKY, FTA, BT and now Amazon) in combination with technology which ruins the flow of the game (VAR) and now fake sound effects I can see quite a few people not renewing their Sky Sports sub.

Aside from that I think the 90 minute+ format is out of fashion with today's society and something similar to what happened with cricket where they changed the fundamental game length will have to be considered.
I remember going to the pub or around a friends house and people would be glued to the TV, now it seems people only look up from their phones when a goals about to be scored.
