Would you be lucky and still support "your club" ?

I am lucky that Tottenham are the nearest club to my place of birth.
a few miles different could have been the worst case scenario and ended up a gooner smile

How about you?

Crewe Alexandra (if we are taking place of birth as the hospital). It would just be Witton Albion if we take the nearest ground to where I lived from birth (they used to play in Northwich town centre before moving out of town), closely followed by Northwich Victoria who played slightly further away but still in the town (and were the Northwich team I followed as a youngster) until I was old enough to cross the Maine Road (ha ha) and allowed to take myself to my team, that being Manchester City.

There's a sports ground opposite the maternity ward I was born in where numerous 11-a-side teams play, none of which I have ever heard of. For example one of them is in the "Wiltshire County Womens & Girls U17s League". If I had to support one of these teams I would not be lucky as I live over 300 miles away and they aren't on telly. They don't even have online match reports.

Millwall would be my birth club, Chelsea is my actual club. Chelsea/Fulham/QPR were the local clubs where I actually grew up, and nearly everyone in my school supported one of those 3.

Luckily I don't watch football and my original local club would have been Sothampton so that's a lucky escape? wink

Depends when you would have been going - they've had some decent teams and players over the years. I'd have happily watched Matt LeTissier do his stuff every week

Crewe Alexandra for me too but I chose Manchester United in 1965 at the age of 7.... Best, Law, Charlton.
Its an easy train or drive up to Old Trafford.

Maine Road was already the closest (top division) ground to my place of birth, then when MCFC moved to the Etihad they moved even closer to my place of birth.

I’m a Liverpool fan, my nearest team would have been Maidstone before they folded but now would be Gillingham which is 25 miles away or Dover 19 miles away (as the crow flies) When going to England matches, I would get a lot of stick for being a southerner supporting a northern team but most wouldn’t understand the lack of professional football in the southeast compared to the rest of the country.

Personally, I feel no more connection to Gillingham, Millwall, West Ham, etc. than anywhere else in the country so why worry about where the team you support comes from.

Born in a hospital in Walthamstow, so would have been a Spurs supporter. My dad also bought me a Spurs shirt when I was really young. frown

Orient never really cut it.

Not really interested in football these days, but am a West Ham supporter. smile
