The Official Alphabet Scoreathon Thread 2019/20
Discussion
Hi all, just running an idea past you to see if there's enough interest in this with a view to launching on January 1st 2020.
Seems to be a fair few of us on here actually go to watch our teams play rather than just on TV. I get to around a hundred games a season from Premier League to under-18's local football and am lucky to work in the industry and GloverHarry & GloverRyan also go to a lot of matches too.
Last season we took part in an online competition (no prizes, it's just for fun!) to see how many different letters of the alphabet we saw score "live". For instance, any Liverpool fans that went to Liverpool v Brighton on Saturday could tick off their V for Van Dijk and their D for Dunk. You include both teams scorers in your list but own goals don't count, just proper goals.
Last year, I ended up on 23 out of 26, just missing U, X and Z. This season, I'm on 22/26, the same as GloverHarry but GloverRyan needs just X and Z for the full house. Unbelievably last season, we all watched Yeovil's top scorer (from 2015-2018), Francois Zoko, go the whole season without a goal.... . The three of us would start this PH competition on zero, we'll keep our own one going separately.
So would anybody be interested in starting a little league up on January 1st? Clearly this is going to be only an option for certain posters but it's quite interesting once you get going. I'd welcome any feedback on how far down we should go - currently, the only rule is that it should be a competitive match and the result should be accessible online. I'll do a little table each week depending on how many sign up. No prizes, just a little fun among us. Long believed the Predictathon thread is the best Football forum thread out there and I hope some of the camaraderie on there will blow this thread's way too.

Doesn't seem like many takers but I would be up for taking part.
I used to play at a half decent level and have also followed West Ham here, there, and everywhere - including every Championship match home and away a few seasons ago. I try to alternate between West Ham home games and Dulwich Hamlet home games now, but I pop down to Billericay every now and then and also go a bit further down the pyramid to watch a few people I know who still play from time to time.
And I also play as a ringer for a Swedish team in the summer if you can trust me to accurately report the scorers when I am there

Cheers BM, think this one will be a slow burner. That sounds fine mate, I'll count you in then. Doesn't need to be 20 to take part but it would be decent to get a few more in there.
