1970s Stoke vs Man City info request...
Discussion
I never thought I'd ever dip a toe into this corner of PH as I'm not in the slightest what you'd call a footie fan, anyway here goes.... I've only ever been to one match in my life, sometime in 1974 my Uncle dragged me and my two cousins in his recently purchased daytona yellow Mk1 Capri up the M6 to Stoke to see them play Man City, it's a memory that has stuck with me all these years, mainly because of the Capri really, but I've always wondered what the date was and can't for the life of me recall the result - can any of you experts pin it down for me please...?
Interesting little snippit:-
The highest ever recorded attendance at any football match (Outside Wembley) in England was in 1934 in the sixth round of the FA cup.
Manchester City 1 Stoke City 0
84,569, Eric Brook scored from near the corner flag.
My dad went to the game at Maine Road.
The record still stands to this day.
