Summer 2019 transfers
Discussion
As we get into silly season on transfer speculation I wonder what we will see this summer
£100m being paid for good young players
£0.25bn player? Mbappe?
Regular premier league teams paying £40m for a player?
Given premier league teams got £100 - £150m in tv and price money last year will clubs have to sell at all?
For my own team I hope we have a refresh of the squad and bring in 3 quality players and give youth a chance
I expect it’s different if you support a top 6 side looking for champions league football

James Maddison, Ben Chilwell, David brooks, Dwight McNeil, Tanguy Ndombele, Will Zaha, Arron Wan-bissaka any two of this lot i'd happy with.
Knowing our Daniel i'll guess we will getting nobody
Apparently had a £10m bid for one of our youngsters Jack Clarke has been turned down. Knowing our Daniel i'll guess we will getting nobody

I think the numbers are going to get ridiculous this year.
If Newcastle have been bought, it'll be reminiscent of the year City were took over and bought Robinhio on deadline day.
Chelsea need to spend, Man Utd need to spend (lots)
I'd love to see Mbappe come to the Premiership somehow, but he's easily a £0.25bn player in the current market.
Bottom half team are going to be spending £30 /40m on players we've hardly even heard of.

I wonder if everyone will be fighting for a few really great players like Mbappe, Hazard etc and that panic buys of £40M will take place for players who are mediocre.
I worry for my team Southampton who can ill afford to buy duffer players for £20m and yet we need 3-4 1st team players and £20m seems to be the going rate for any decent player now.
If Mbappe goes, he will be in my opinion the first $0.25bn player. We'd have him at St Mary's but her'd probably start on the bench behind Long and Austin

In theory any PL club should be able to spend £80m on players in the summer due to the amount of money sloshing around these daysI worry for my team Southampton who can ill afford to buy duffer players for £20m and yet we need 3-4 1st team players and £20m seems to be the going rate for any decent player now.

I'm not sure they can. Wages can be $50M, running a football club costs a lot as well, cost of policing, stewards etc etcSure there are other revenue streams like matchday sales/shirts, but if you are outside of the top 10 it's not that easy to spend £80M and run the club. If £80m is 4 players at £150k a week, thats £30m in wages and thats only 1/4 of the squad.
I think wages are the constraint for more clubs than buying the player
So Real Madrid have spent close to £300m already this summer (Eder Militao, Jovic, Hazard, Mendy) plus the arrival of a £40m Santos player signed last year. The likes of Neymar or Mbappé haven't even been mentioned yet.
I guess the FIFA Fair Play investigators are so busy looking into various Premier League teams and PSG that they haven't even noticed.
Can you imagine the outcry in Spain if Man City had spent this sort of money already?

There are others linked with Real Madrid as well so the spending might not be over yet. Surely htey have to trim their squad and recoop some money otherwise I can't see how they meet the fair play metrics.
It feels like we're waiting for 1-2 big transfers to kick off a ripple effect. Hazard moving cannot impact that if Chelsea cannot buy anyone but if Mbappe or Neymar went, that could trigger some moves
