That is unreal, absolute bucket list stuff. Cost? arrangements.
if I went I'd want to be in the cheap seats in with the Ultras, the atmosphere will be unreal i'd imagine.
Good stuff twig.
Cheap it ain't. Almost impossible to source your own tickets for the BA derby, unless you have a friend who's a club member at Boca. So your only real option is an organised tour and that adds to the price.
Basically, direct return from London, tour including match tickets, 7 nights accommodation bed and breakfast in a 3* hotel, £1900 per person. Add on another £500 for spending money and £100 for a day trip to Montevideo (got to tick Uruguay off the list whilst you're out there) and I'm budgeting on £2500 each.
But.....YOLO.....as the kids would say.
My wife thinks I'm mad, and reckons I'm completely obsessed with football. But she should know me by know, we've been together for over 30 seasons.

Sounds fantastic, high risk strategy but I wonder if you could rock up and get a ticket from a tout?Basically, direct return from London, tour including match tickets, 7 nights accommodation bed and breakfast in a 3* hotel, £1900 per person. Wow, what an amazing trip. Anyone who loves football really need to add this to their bucket list. Mental fans.
The first game we went to was a Copa Libertadores (the South American Champions League) quarter final first leg, Independiente v River Plate, so a Buenos Aires derby. Ended 0-0 but lots of action, could have been 3-3. Our guide for the game was an Independiente fan and they always have a pre match party in an old cowshed, which we had to walk across live railway lines to get to. H&S hasn't reached Argentina yet.
Then on to the match.
The next thing was the ferry over to Uruguay, and a trip to the 1930 world cup stadium in Montevideo. They have a really good museum too.
The next match was San Lorenzo v Patronata. San Lorenzo came from 1-2 down to win 3-2 with 2 late goals. great fun. You need to get a car into the stadium car park, because the ground is located in the district of Flores, which is one of B.A.s no go areas!
Then the big event, Boca v River. Unfortunately, River won 0-2, so we never got to experience the full mental Boca experience. Still unforgettable though. When the River team bus got back to their stadium (the Monumental, where they played the 78 world cup final) at about 11.30pm, 20K fans were waiting for them with flares etc. This for s 2-0 away win in the league! We watched it on the tv back at our hotel.
Final game was Racing v Union, a 1-0 home win. Racing fans are just as bonkers as the rest, and there was a stray dog wandering round for the whole game that no one seemed fussed about! And a fan, standing on the wall of the moat around the pitch, fell in the moat when they scored!
So all in all a great trip. You must go on an organised tour to get the most out of it. We used Homefans and I can really recommend then. Tickets are unobtainable as an independent fan. You need contacts in the clubs.
And don't go to Argentina if you are vegetarian, because you will starve to death!

love the area where kids can play 5 as side in front of the terraces rather than watch the actual gamehttps://talksport.com/football/427951/watch-dog-sn...
what was the quality of the football and officiating like vs EPL?

Quality isn't great. None of the top teams would survive in the Prem. Championship level at best. All the best young S. American players go to Europe so you're left with those who aren't good enough to get picked up by a European club, or those who are at the end of their careers in Europe and have come home, like CarlosTeves who plays for Boca. The officiating was fine but there's a culture of ref hating in S America. He can do no right. So he gets dogs abuse the whole game.

Lady nonseq has been joining me at matches recently. Full hospitality only, of course. Well worth the extra cost.Basically, direct return from London, tour including match tickets, 7 nights accommodation bed and breakfast in a 3* hotel, £1900 per person. Oh, and we kept a score of British footy shirts seen around B.A. And, although I am biased, the genuine result was:
Chelsea 3
Arsenal 2
Wales 2
Man U 1
Liverpool 1
The main foreign ones you see are obviously Spanish, R. Madrid & Barca.
2 Wales shirts?! Love it! Chelsea 3
Arsenal 2

Man U 1
Liverpool 1
