Labour have announced today that they are to support the reintroduction of Safe Standing to Premiership and Championship stadiums if they are deemed safe enough to accommodate it.

Has Safe Standings time really arrived now? I do hope so. If only to:

1. Recognise what every football fan already knows - some people will always want to stand and will do so irrespective of whether it's allowed

2. Reinvigorate the atmosphere at English stadiums to levels not seen since the Hillsborough tragedy (and which has now sadly been surpassed by other countries)

Let's make it happen.

Some Spirit of Shankly Liverpool fans were at Celtic recently to see the safe standing arrangements there.

I personally am all for safe standing as I often find myself nodding off at football matches and standing would help me stay more alert hehe

I can remember them promising the same thing in 1996.
