As an Arsenal fan, I'm not hating on a Totnum player, but Harry Kane has been getting (deserved) attention for his goal tally.

I'll go as far as saying he's in front of a fairly well structured team and getting as many goals as he has has been made easier for him by that virtue; however, one pundit suggested he is in the same category as Messi and Ronaldo and tonight I'm reading headlines that Totnum 'value' him at £300 million.

Spending £300 million today gets you Messi, Ronaldo and Suarez.

As far as the comparisons go, Messi gives you an array of skills as does Ronaldo, but Kane?

Links to any goals he's scored against Arsenal don't prove much given how even Championship sides score against us

Because he scores so many goals his other attributes often get overlooked.

Right now Hes as good as any play in the world whos first name isn't Lionel.

The frightening thing is that he gets better every year and is still 3 or 4 years away from his peak.

His numbers are ridiculous and beyond anything we've seen in the premier league.

He can score with both feet and his head, and he doesn't just get on the end of chances the team have made for him but he makes his own too, and he makes them for others and can turn poacher when he needs to. He also often starts moves, coming quite deep to link up with others.

Is he worth £300million? Of course not. Is he Ronaldo or Messi? Probably not yet. But let's see what he's done when his career has reached the length theirs has.

Kane will wanna move to a big club soon. He'll only get one shot at Real or Barca in his career and he's not getting any younger. Real will probably end up getting him at the end of this season for about ~£175m. And then he'll skulk home back to England after a couple of years of injuries and average goal tallies, like all overseas jollies.

FTFY wink

He is brilliant though, no doubt. Needs to win things to get ranked really among the greats in terms of ballon d'or and such, but there's no doubting his talents. I do sometimes find him a little clumsy when watching him not in goal scoring positions, he certainly doesn't have the technical silkiness of the greats of today and the past, but there is no arguing with his outright effort and goal scoring ability.

Great player but his numbers aren’t ridiculous at all.

All time scoring record in a 38 game prem season is held by Ronaldo, Suarez and shearer.

Not Harry.

Messi is a once in a generation type player, like Maradona, and I wouldn't put Kane in that league.

He is a top striker and if the going rate for a lump like Lukaku is £80m then Kane's got to be worth £150m.

Of course Spurs value him at £300m and I wouldn't expect Daniel Levy to start the negotiation from anything less.

If England win the World Cup and Harry Kane scores 12 goals including a hat trick in the final, he'll be worth £300 million.

When the commentator says "they think it's all over..." as he bags his third, then he's worth it.

Until then, he's worth £100 million in today's market.

Some stats :

Kane 18 goals, 1 assist, 116 shots (6.1 per game), 23 offsides (1.2 per game)
Salah 15 goals, 5 assists, 75 shots (3.8 per game), 11 offsides (0.6 per game)
Sterling 13 goals, 4 assists, 49 shots (2.6 per game), 7 offsides (0.4 per game)
Aguero 12 goals, 4 assists, 59 shots (3.1 per game), 10 offsides (0.5 per game)

He's obviously a very good goal scorer, but he's miles ahead of his contemporaries in terms of shots and offsides and doesn't provide assists. Clearly the team plays to get Kane to shoot and he does, but his conversion rate is average. As a crude comparison, if you adjust for shots taken Salah is on 24 goals, Sterling 31 and Aguero 24.

I don't think anyone really rates him as highly as Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez, Neymar etc.

Kane hasn't finished yet. He's played 134 pl league games. Have a look at the first 134 games of Ronaldo Suarez and shearer. Kane has out scored them all. And by some distance.

The word, worth, is massively overused. When you see Citeh buy Kyle Walker for £50m a couple of seasons after Raheem Sterling was bought for a similar fee... then Pogba going to Manyoo for £100m... Neymar to PSG for £198million.... Lukaku for 75, and now VVD to 'pool for a similar fee... it's bonkers.

Listen if vvd is worth 75m pogba worth 100m and coutinho 150m then there's not noughts on a calculator to put a price on kane.

It's irrelevant though. Right now he isn't for sale.

Kane beat Shearer's 1995 EPL goal record in 2017, and he also beat Messi and Ronaldo for club-and-country goals worldwide in 2017. Kane will be offski to Real this Summer after they ditch Bale.

The £300m price tag was put on him by the press and not the club, you do know that right?
