I'm constantly amazed at what people think they can get away with shouting at footballers a couple of feet away, if you did the same anywhere else you'd get a slap as an absolute minimum and more likely a good kicking if on a night out. I'm a regular at both Bournemouth and Arsenal and the vitriol that's spouted often with kids around is sometimes unbelievable.
Not making excuses for Evra as never particularly a fan of his but everyone has a snap point and his was no doubt found.

Can’t disagree with that, Patrice won’t get much change offering it as a reason, but it’s true. Not making excuses for Evra as never particularly a fan of his but everyone has a snap point and his was no doubt found.

Not if the victim was being paid £100K/week plus and knew part of the deal was to be shouted at, often adored and often hated, by the people paying him. No one is forced to become a pro footballer, and most who can't do the job would quite like to have been able to. BlackLabel said:

Any oner else hear what Tony Cascarino had to say about the Marseille fans this morning on Talksport ?
I'm not a fan of Evra but what what he said this morning was just crazy.
What did he say?I'm not a fan of Evra but what what he said this morning was just crazy.
"This is a unique club where fans have a strong influence, as I discovered during my two years playing there. Attacking one of them, whatever the provocation, takes Evra past the point of no return.
"These are people who, in many cases, have little money, yet follow Marseilles all over the country. Their club means everything to them.
"If the club is unique, then so is Marseilles as a city. It is like its own little country. There was a feeling of us against the rest, whether in football or in life in general. Given that background, attacking a Marseilles supporter is the worst thing Evra could have done."

I tried to find the clip but it's not there He said that after a cup game that they lost to a side two divisions below them that there was one representative of each of the four groups of supporters ( ultras etc ) was invited onto the team bus to tell the players exactly what they thought of them & Cascarino said he was really frightened for his safety. He was basically saying that the fans seem to be able to get very close to the players to tell them what they think.
It's hard to explain what he said but it sounded really scary that these obsessed fans were allowed to get so close to the players.
