My son an avid fan who oddly at early twenties can remember our local teams scores for about the last 10 years but can't be bothered to turn over to watch our National team.

I can't believe it really, his point is that when he watched and followed them intensely they just didn't turn up and sights Rooney in 2010 and England's draw with Algeria, fortunately don't think he watched the Iceland game.

His friends don't bother and can't say the pubs are swinging, so have we deserted them?

Not been interested in England for a few years now. Once they get a decent manager and stop picking players based on their club I'll start taking an interest again.

Couldn't care less about the England team.

Watched them not turn up for the World Cups in 2010 and 2014, too many players clearly couldn't give a stuff about it so neither do I now.

I think we have far too many meaningless games against opposition we know nothing about.

I also think we all get thoroughly pissed off that we have to go 14 days without Premier league football.

I also think it's so unfair just to have England games only at Wembley, Now that Spurs are playing there this season & highly likely that Chelsea will be there for a 4 year sentence must mean the revenue will be in abundance . i thought it was far better when England played at grounds up & down the land.

Having said that i will be watching tonight, biggrin

They're crap..and have been for many years. There won't be much change under Gareth Southgate neither, so expect the same in the future.

I was a fanatic.

Not long ago found myself watching a repeat Midsomer Murders rather than the England match.

South Africa was the end for me. Not much bothered after that. I still watch, and want us to win, but I'm not at all bothered when we flop. I actually laughed all the way thru the 2nd half of the Iceland match. I've been to two world cups, but I'll never pay to see England play again.

I'd far rather Chelsea won the league (Carabao) cup than England won the world cup. It means very little to me.

Even the 'would-be pundits' on facebook after the game drive me mad now, "Southgate should've played xyz" "Southgate should've played him in a more forward position", they must be deluded to think that a few changes to the team and we would be world beaters, mind you even these seem to be fewer and fewer now.

For me that was the first time that England were properly, genuinely st and didn't seem to care a jot about it. Prior to that they had failed in one way or another but at least there appeared to be some semblance of effort.

Why doesn't he post all this himself?

Don't say he can't be bothered!

People have clocked that England will never again win a major trophy. The rest of the world is just too far ahead on skills, management and fitness / diet. Everyone knows it's a lost cause and has given up watching national games.

I went to both home and away matches for a few years but unfortunately never got to a major tournament as it was too expensive. I really enjoyed the away matches, such a better atmosphere and visiting new places but the home matches were a bit dull, especially with the travelling on a Wednesday night.

I still watch them on TV but they really need to do something to spark peoples imagination although we are still the most followed team in the world (match attendance) for this qualifying period.

Same, although I suspect a few players are only picked on the number of shirts they sell.

Club before country for me I'm afraid. I hate the international breaks.

I guess after years of under achievement and disappointment you can understand the apathy of many.

Strange isn't it.

Club team you support through thick and thin (well proper non-glory hunting fans do), but there are many on here stating that they're not interested because 'their rubbish', 'won't win anything'......

I've lost interest through the players lack of interest, or at least their perceived lack of interest, and in tandem with me generally losing interest in the game at top level (money, cheating, play acting, prima donners etc etc)

Will be flying through the air tonight during the England match, meaning I won't be able to watch it.

Not bothered in the slightest.

Boring games, always disappointing, no passion no interest.
