Figured the Football section would be the best place to ask for recommendations: AstroTurf - boots (pref wide fitting).

Currently have Adidas 'Mundial Team' and saw last night that they're splitting on the shoe that sees the ball most. Time for a new pair... can anyone suggest a good quality pair for artificial pitch surfaces?

TIA

I bought a pair of Puma One's a few weeks ago.
A bit bright to start with as they're off white but very comfortable - previous Adidas were too narrow at the front.

Are you playing on old school astroturf, or on the newer 3/4G pitches?

Depending on surface you will need blades/moulds or your traditional astro style boots.

In terms of what boots to buy the world is your oyster...£20 - £200 depending on your budget and what style/type of boot. Speed, Comfort, colours, leather etc?

Puma King astro - black with the white stripe. No nonsense, nice soft leather yet durable. Had my for three years and look new (maybe says something about my playing style!)

If you go on the footy forums people will always recommend these

Avoid cheap boots from Sports direct (GBP30 and below)

Power League, so 3G and some are 4.

I try and keep away from bright coloured boots... black will do. Don't mind shelling out for quality. Wide fitting shoe preferred (the Adidas were a bit tight across the front, and a bit pointy)

Go for moulds or blades then. Plenty of choice but perhaps looks at Puma Kings as someone else mentioned, or Nike Tiempos as they are more your traditional boot.

I agree, blades or moulded are the way forward on those pitches.
It does hurt when caught by others in blades though.

I don't like the fit of Nike, always find Pumas the most comfortable along side Adidas.

A couple do wear blades/moulds and nobody wears shinnies. The harder bottomed shoes do hurt if you make contact.

I also have a pair of Adidas Copa Mundial with moulded studs, suitable for 4G that we play on.
I found that turning and changing direction resulted in pain on the very outside of my foot because there is little support there (the studs are an inch in from the edges). Most likely due to me being heavy but the Puma astro trainers are much more comfortable.

I need wide boots, and the modern styles just aren't wide at all, so:

Astro: Adidas Copa
Mouldys: Puma King
Studs: Adidas World Cup

I play touch rugby on an artificial hockey pitch (rubber type), and wear Adidas Goletto boots. Very comfortable. Lasted around 2 years before giving in, without me looking after them. Bought another pair. Few other guys have them too and are very happy with them.

My toes are gradually becoming more and more disfigured after years of playing on 3G pitches with others wearing blades.

I now wear the old school puma tempo things as they offer half decent protection, the new fancy boots offer no protection at all.

I'm onto my 4th pair of Nike Hypervenoms.

Never tried Puma.
Adidas always gave blisters.
Nike are the only make that fit comfortably but Mercural's we too soft and broke my foot. Tempo's were too clumpy.

I'm a rugby player by design. Never really played footy other than a kickabout until four years ago when I started a regular weekly game at the local PL.

Me in that style of boot: nono

So wrong hehe
