Who was the censoredsocket that decided that footie players could accrue 5/10/15 yellow cards, just wtf was that all about. So is it time for a rugby/hockey style sinbin?. 10/15/20 mins per cardable offence.......

Mike's the refs up like rugby - then we can see the abuse in Ultra HD and hear it too ...

What happened to the 'free kick advances 10yards after dissent' idea that was around for about 10mins?

It was a good idea in principle but there was one flaw in it IMO. The "ten yard advance" would only happen if the dissent had resulted in a caution and as most refs will try to keep 11 v 11 on the pitch, they were hesitant to issue yellows for more minor dissent. Hence the rule was never properly enforced and as such, a waste of time.

It would have been a much different story had they said "If anyone gives you gip, advance it forward ten yards, no booking needed!". That way, it would have happened a lot to start with (without cautioning 20 players a game) and eventually, stamped out on the dissent.

Yes Mart, we got it! biggrin

I didn't realise that it had to be an infringement that warranted a booking - I thought it was any dissent and it went forward 10 yards ... and if just outside the area, a penalty was awarded. Obviously not!

Sin bins are in place this year, being trialled at some Step 5 to 7 leagues around the country (that's the lowest levels of non-league for the uninitiated). 10 minutes off the pitch for dissent in place of a yellow card, I think at the discretion of the referee.

I was dreading it being on my league, luckily it's not so I can continue being the card flashing bd I always have been. biggrin
