I wondered how Pep Guardiola would overhaul his Man City side in order to compete in the premier league and in the champions league too.

£47m on John Stones.
£42m on Leroy Sane.
£43 on Bernardo SIlva.

Rumours of them spending big on a wing back and even £35m+ on a goalkeeper.

Man Utd spending £90m on Pogba and rumours of £70m on Griezeman.

I know that Man Utd can afford to spend it due to their worldwide presence and Man City due to the TV deal and more notably their rich owner, but the whole league will be affected by the fees being paid surely?

I know Real have been doing it for years but arguably they are guaranteed a trophy every year and Barcelona have been doing it recently having not had much success out of La Masia but La Liga TV rights aren't distributed evenly like the premier league. They are in the top 3 teams in the world in highest revenue turnover too...

Will the teams who finish 8-15th be paying £30-40m on an average player in 5 years time?
Will the marquee signings of Man Utd/ Chelsea/ Man City cost atleast £100m each every transfer window?

Manchester United spent £115,000 on Denis Law in 1962 when the average man's wage was around £15.00

Nothing new.

Interesting:-

Huddersfield Town will once again be seeking out value in the lower divisions of Europe instead of getting ripped off

Yes we'll probably go back down but at least it is a financially stable model and one which has now secured our future for many years to come

The spending of the top 6 certainly worked in 2016/17, but it did not the year before when Leicester took the league easily. We don't have a sport anymore, but a series of businesses who are intent on making money, so the spend will go up to get the best players and there will be a trickle down effect to the other clubs.

I see the first 100 million pound player this summer and an all time high for premier league spending.

We should not forget that 6 into 4 does not go, so some will miss out on the champions league (or do a Man Utd and win the Europa)

I saw that chart the other day, who have tottenham sold apart from walker?

I think the ones for Chelsea and Man City as well are being very generous with the figures received for players

Edited to add, according to premier league website Tottenham have sold

Tottenham Hotspur
Out
Luke McGee (Portsmouth) Undisclosed Details
Kyle Walker (Manchester City) Undisclosed Details
Federico Fazio (Roma) Undisclosed Details
Clinton Njie (Marseille) Undisclosed Details

I have removed the loans but did those other 3 really get them £25 Million?

Looks like some records may be broken today.

Also it's interesting to note how much players with only 1 year left on their contracts are going for - you'd be lucky to get £20-25m for them a couple of years ago but now that no longer applies.

Yes that dynamic has changed dramatically. If a player is on a Bosman they previously would have cashed the club transfer fee saving onto their wages but now it seems fee & wages just command what they need to and remaining contract is irrelevant. The only downside for the player is probably slightly less choice of next clubs if they move in-contract.
