Most overrated/underrated your clubs players of all time
Discussion
Underrated : James Ward Prowse : at 21 he's adept at most roles in midfield and trusted with turning the phase of play from recycling the ball deep into realising tactically where the attack should go and setting it off. At an earlier age he was trusted to drop and cover when our fullbacks would press forward for a fair while under MoPo and Koeman and of course he's got a half decent set piece. Oh yeah and he's a midget, I mean 5 foot nothing, I bumped into him in my local shops the other month and thought "oh that guy looks like a short JWP"
Overrated : James Ward Prowse : As a club Saints are guilty of our own profiling and marketing. We're good at marketing good players at potentially great players, adept at creating a conveyor belt of 30m speedy wingers, marauding fullbacks or midget technically adept centre mids.
Problem is now the fans are used to products under 20 being as good as the previous ones, JWP has a great set piece, but he wasn't smashing them in every week for us like Bale was at 17, "why not, look, he even strikes it like Beckham" Now he's suffering from the malaise quiet intelligent centre mids normally get, he's more Milner than Hazard and more Cleverly than Kante. He might turn out to be something that an academy should be used for , to create players that'll give the club 10 years of service at an amortised cost the equivalent of a cheap hatchback, but he gets quite a lot of stick for being born 20 miles down the road and being "quite good, but not as good as that guy we could have bought for 20m who's amazing on champ man"
Oh yeah, he's got 140 appearances for us at 21/22 so "he should be good enough by now"
Classic.

Going back a while I always thought David Reeves was a bit of a headless chicken but the fans loved him for his workrate, always preferred Tony Philliskirk.
More recently I never really got the love for Fabrice Muamba (pre-collapse) but thought Simon Coleman was a cracking player who never really got the appreciation he fully deserved before serious injury. Been a bit of a revolving door since then with extreme opinions about most players. Nice to see a clear out of dead wood ahead of life back in the Championship, never saw that promotion coming.
