Mourinho has always been divisive, you either love or hate his personality, but at least when he’s winning you can put up with his petulance, arrogance and bringing his club into disrepute.

In the early days at Porto, Chelsea (term 1) and Inter Milan he did manage to get the best out of his teams and win trophies.

At Real Madrid the magic started to wane. At Chelsea (term 2) I know they won the league but in the dullest fashion ever and it was an uphill struggle. The following season the squad imploded and, although the truth has never been found out, my sources tell me Mourinho’s personality killed the team spirit.

This season he seems to be declining yet further. He blamed Roman last year for not giving him the funds to rebuild but he can’t accuse United of that this year. He wants to blame everyone but himself, referees, opposition and even luck!

Looks to me like he’s in a deep depression which is dragging down all around him. He seems to think that players should be motivated solely by his reputation and he’s forgetting the basics of man management.

If United fans are hoping Jose is the saviour I think they’re going to be disappointed because he’s not special anymore.

Is he finished? No...

Do United fans believe he will bring back success to the club, some do, some don't.

You need sources to suggest his actions last year had an effect on team spirit ?

Were these sources most national newspapers that reported similar when he kicked off with the team doctor?

Sources.

Man Utd spent a lot of time working out if he was right and will not drop another manager quickly. He will be given funds and time and support. His actions deflect attention away from the team

Presumably Utd did due diligence on Moyes and LVG too?

Don't give me the bks about deflecting attention. It's always been about José and his ego.

No, this is not a piss take. Maybe Utd fans don't fancy facing the truth this early. We can revisit this thread in a couple of years to see who's delusional. I'll happily take the flak if José wins a proper trophy (not the league cup).

With the funds available to him it doesn't matter if he's finished.

I suspect he will finish ahead of current media darling Klopp

And so he should if he's spending £100m on one player. I could manage to get a team above Klopp with that budget.

Mourinho's managerial powers have waned dramatically as his looks and hair have disappeared.

The charismatic young leader has become a weak old man.

He has gone from Clooney to Rooney.

The lion has lost his mane.

  • Young and thick hair = 68% win rate;
  • Old and balding = 59% win rate.

The trouble with Mourinho is he is a bad loser, lose...blame the ref.

Fergie was the same, hardly EVER gave the opposition credit if they won.

I do like Mourinho though, the game needs characters...smile

Europa League for United next season I'm afraid......biggrin

Reality is he def. changed over the years, at Inter and his first spell at Chelsea he would defend his team, every single one of them benchwarmers included. Creating an hostile atmosphere towards the outside world, mostly journalist. But he never ever critized players. It was part of his repertoire, he used it to motivate his team, it was them against us. And it was effective.

That's changed; at Real, his 2nd spell at Chelsea and now United he's been critizising numerous players in the media. At United mostly the young players (Shaw, Martial for instance). Plus he's started overreacting towards referees, medical staff, opposing team management and overestimating his ability's.

He's become less effective over the years.

In 2016/2017 that's a fact. Only a handful of clubs can win the CL.

Pretending to be somebody else though as Mourinho did at the beginning of the season gives him away....
