The Chinese seem to have endless pockets for their pursuit of football talent.

I was convinced that they will only be signing players in the twilight of their careers but now i'm not so sure.

Oscar is only 25 & you could argue that he has at least a good 7 & years playing at the top level in Europe .

The Sun are reporting that one newly promoted club are willing to pay Chelsea £80M & £490k a week wages for Diego Costa .

Should we be afraid of them ?

Here's what Tevez is currently earning

Define afraid?

Will we lose a few "Carlos Kickaballs"? Probably. Will it make English football less exciting, dynamic and watchable? Nope.

The Chinese grew a pool full of swimmers and cleaned up for a couple of games.....this time they have to buy faces, initially with older players, now looks like current players starting to go - with a government mandate to be good at footy the money is out there.
My hope is that this bursts the sky bubble which has ruined grass roots footy in Britain

Afraid in way that they may well lure the best players away from our clubs.

I guess that it's only what the bigger teams are doing to lesser teams here in the UK

It is crazy money, they've offered massive money for Cristiano Ronaldo too.

Personally, I'm not too bothered. Players come and go. Football clubs and their fans endure

The genuine world class players leave to Real and Barcelona anyway.

England already pays vastly over the odds fees and wages to mediocre players as it is.

Do you watch much Chinese football?

Would you if more big name players were playing there?

I barely watch Spanish, Italian or German football where there are quite often better players than in the PL so if they rocked up in China it wouldn't change my habits at all.

It's not about you watching their football, it about them not watching English football.

We keep getting told how many people around the world watch the English premier league. For example the last Man Utd v Liverpool game they made a big deal that 850m people apparently watched. From 850m only 2m were in the UK.

So if the Chinese turn off to watch their own it'll take a lot of money and interest out of England.

It'll likely mean a chance that England will win the world cup again, which is a positive.

Will be interesting to see how this goes in a few years. Will the pool of money be endless? the financial model can't be sustainable.

It really isn't. Sure it's another market to sell tat but the TV deals bringing in mega money aren't linked to the China market.

The TV deals won't be bringing so much mega money in future if all the best players up sticks to China though.

Of course they will. The Prem already doesn't have the best players.

China pay $700m for the TV rights. There has been a lot of Chinese investment in English football too. Man City got £265m not so long ago. Premier league teams are desperate for a share of the Asian market as it's worth a fortune.
