Has anyone done this? I'm far from a rabid fan but enjoy following Huddersfield as her parents live there and we go to games when we're up from Worcester. I was talking to a friend down here about possibly going to the Birmingham game (he has a season ticket) when Town would be away - whilst I wouldn't wear a striped scarf and sing "those were the days" as loud as I could would we be fine sat together or would we need to be incredibly pathetic and split up for the game then meet up afterwards?

You'll be fine - I've sat in Goodison Park as an away fan dressed in blue, on derby day!

I've taken loads of away fans to sit with me at St Marys - never been a problem.

As long as they behave themselves (ie sit on their hands when their side [inevitably] scores), there shouldn't be an issue.

If I thought someone was a loon who'd clearly let himself (and me) down in the home end, I wouldn't risk my season ticket by inviting them in the first place.

Enjoyed loads of games seeing the toon getting beat with my black and white family, I basically supported anyone they were playing (which was everyone from Barcelona to inter Milan back in those days).

As a Liverpool fan I went with 2 UTD mates to the game at Old Trafford Last year when we knocked them out of Europe.

In with the shouty UTD fans, not the padded seats.

I was almost completely silent for about 2 hours and didn't feels as if I could even smirk.

Not very pleasant, but worth it as we did enough to go through scoring an amazing goal.

Was pretty hairy when it kicked off directly above us though.

Thanks all. Didn't think it would be too much of a problem but was interested to ask opinions.

I've been an away fan with friends who support the home team, in the home end, many times. It's mainly safe, but utterly miserable, and I don't do it anymore. I'd rather not go at all.

When I go away, I want to be in with the away fans.

I once sat in the Holte End at Villa park as an Arsenal fan during a cap game. It was... interesting.

^ this, done it loads of times.
One of the funniest times was when I saw City play Forest some years ago. I kept quiet even when we were 0-2 up, but when the third went in I couldn't help but give a little cheer,
As probably around 30% of the closet City fans in the stand did smile

Done it once as a neattral, once every starts singing "stand up if you love XXXX", it becomes a bit awkward

Never again, rather not endure the pain and watch the result on ceefax
