Three points at one of the harder places to go judging by how Palace did second half of last season. Haven't see any of it except Kozzer's pathetic attempt at a block for their goal....repeat of last week. He needs to be dropped to make him think twice about whether his bks or conceeding a goal are more important.

A win but not looking remotely convincing at the moment, Coqeauvin mightly lucky to not be sent off and a bit of luck for the second goal. Poor finishing and decision making in the final half of the pitch again.
The Coquelin incident just proves what I have said before on this forum, if he is injured or gets a ban we are fooked. I am shocked that Wenger has not signed anyone to cover this KEY position on the pitch!! He clearly had no confidence to bring Arteta on as a straight swap straight away (although he did eventually make it onto the pitch) and instead we had Cazorla and Ramsey as our ball winning, combative central midfielders!! Whilst Cazorla has proven quite adept in playing slightly deeper last season we can't rely on that central pairing to compete against the bigger teams and if we have aspirations of becoming champions then this needs to be addressed PDQ!! stu1984 said:

Completely agree... stuff trying to sign a world class striker - concentrate on getting someone who can control the pace of the game from midfield and can break up play.scrubchub said:
Apparently Cavani is "going to sign within the next few days" now. Must have got bored of Benzema.
How do journalisits get paid for this st?
There;s a "football agent" on Twitter who is 100% adamant that Benzema is a done deal and will be announced last week of the window. He's been taking bets with people who say he's wrong (whatever that is worth on a Twitter account). He also reckons we've bid for Goetze as a long term replacement for Santi and that we're going to sign one of Busquets, Carvalho, Rabiot and Krychowiak (he'd be in January as he's injured). How do journalisits get paid for this st?
If any of that is true it would be pretty fking amazing.
I know there's only so many top top players around, but it beats the hell out of me as to why IF any of these supposed deals come off, they come so late. Potentially by the time a new striker or defensive midfielder arrive we could have blown our chances of winning the PL...as before they can hit the ground and be effective we'll be what 5-6 games in to the season?

I don't think there's a manager that likes it this way....unfortunately it's all about column inches, webiste hits and media blah blah blah.
It is also like buying a house and being in a long chain, there are often dependent deals off the back of the first buyer in the chain, and thus getting them all lined up takes time and commitment - an impending deadline helps focus those deals to be completed. The Benzema rumour rears it's head every single window. It's more likely now than it ever was due to the changes at RM. But I still don't think it will happen. Benzema, while not one of the biggest stars at RM has a key part to play in their attacking line up. This isn't like the Ozil transfer, unless RM have a replacement lined up Benzema won't go.
