Before you all laugh, the last time I actually paid to see a match (I do work on them from time to time) was at Palace when Venables was a player. Must of been a few shillings at the turnstiles biggrin

My youngest was 9 this week and is football mad (hasn't got it from me) and for some reason supports West Ham even tho' we are not far from Chelsea.

West Ham are playing Hull tomorrow so I'd imagine it won't be busting at the seams, I may be wrong, but what is the chance of just rocking up and paying at the gate? Can that be done anymore? and I presume there will be areas that it will be OK for a 9 year old to watch?

Just would like to take him for a birthday surprise.

Cheers.

Tickets

Tickets for this match have SOLD OUT .

Makes sense considering how well they are doing at the moment.

That's one of the saddest things I've ever read on PH.

Haha.

Went on-line and found two spaces next to each other in the upper tier Bobby Moore Stand. Virtually sold out. £53 for me yikes sure it was just a few shillings back in the 70s biggrin

He's well excited though so worth it.

Good on you, mate. You should have told him in the morning though. Now it'll be like Christmas and he'll be too excited and not sleep!

Ta. Just had a look at Google Maps. Probably worth walking to Plaistow which in turn is not far from West Ham DLR/tube.

Yep, easy - 10 mins or so, although ground isn't signed from Plaistow. I tend to go back that way but use UP on way in.

So 3-0 to West Ham and we were in a great position to be able to see the goals in detail. Very enjoyable as a one off 'cos at £53 for the cheap seats how on Earth can anyone afford to be an ardent fan?

OK my lad was only a quid but I believe these were cheaper prices as it was a Cat B game.

I presume it's less if you are a member and a better deal if a season ticket holder.

Back in the 70s/80s when all my mates were Palace fans, they'd see me in the pub at lunchtime and suggest that I come with them and see the match. I don't remember it breaking the bank, yet it felt exactly the same as it did today (apart from sitting), the same queues for beer, tea and burgers and the same long queue for the toilets biggrin

Same goes for gigs. Never felt hard done by and went to numerous gigs a month including biggies like Wembley Stadium and various stadia around Europe and Ireland back in the day when I used to earn bugger all.

My teenage daughter fancies seeing The Foo Fighters this summer, and so do I as I've filmed them many times and think that they are a great live act, so I thought I'd get 3 tickets. 2 for us and an extra for one of her friends.

Cheapest tickets are over £100 each. They can foo off. Maybe I'll get to work on it and will sneak them in.

Anyhow, well done West Ham. biggrin

Good on you. Nothing beats going to your first game.

I support Arsenal and my first game was December 1984 (I was 11) at home to Graham Taylor's Watford, it finished 1-1. I can't remember much about the game, however I remember being mesmerised by the fans around me on the North Bank.

Glad you enjoyed it (less said about the first half the better) and that they held off the goals for the second half in front of the bobby Moore - thought downing's was especially good.

Price wise think we're similar to other PL London clubs, arsenal are the most expensive (I think), Club often does kids for a quid for the cat B games.
