Ideas to make football a little bit more exciting
Discussion
I know the yanks came up with this a few years back and the traditionalists who like standing on the terraces will object, why not just make the goal a yard wider and a foot higher, the games all about goals and although i've seen some great 0-0 draws more often than not I feel cheated out of my hard earned.
Back in the 90's the A-league which I think then was the NSL in Australia wanted to compete with the more popular sports like Aussie Rules footy. Anyway, their answer to this was that EVERY game ended in a penalty shoot out.
They still to this day have a finals system at the end of the season too.

In a knockout game, play the penalty shoot out first. then play the 90 minutes and then extra time as normal. at the moment extra time rarely sorts out the game as both teams tend to play cautious football and try their luck at penalties rather than push for a goal and risk leaving gaps. it would guarantee at least one team would be playing attacking footbal in extra time!

So then the team that wins the penalty shootout can park the bus for 90 mins? Great idea.essexplumber said:
Just leave it the f
k alone!
Its the most exciting sport ever, nothing even comes close so why change it?
Generally any game that ends 0-0 is pretty boring, look at Rugby or if you want a really exciting game to watch/play hurling, the average height has increased 6 inches over the last 150 years.

Rubgy isn't anywhere near as exciting as football, they spend half the time stopped or with their heads up each other's arse.rogerthefish said:
