OK, fair enough, if you've been supporting Swansea for years, you may well have picked yourself someone to support in Europe and the like but even so, it's pretty bloody sad if the club actually has to ask their own supporters at their own ground not to wear their opponent's shirts in the home section!!!

I assume it is so man united fans who don't watch man u at old trafford dont go to the libery stadium in man u kits to watch them play swansea. This is easy to do as swansea are easy to get tickets for where as man u are not. So in theory man u fans from swansea could just go there on matchday and get tickets to watch while in their man united kits but have to sit in the home stand.

From what I have heard it's pretty hard to get a ticket for Swansea as well. They sold a massive number of season tickets once promoted and left very few available to buy on match day.

No, I think the key part of the article was this...

Phil Sumbler chairman of Swansea City supporters trust said:
The difference with seeing shirts from top flight clubs in the home section is that the Swans are now in the same division.

"I think it's been one of those generic observations that over the course of time it's not unusual to see Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea shirts at matches," he said.

"The difference is this season they are all the opposition.
So it's mostly people who support Swansea, but who also support a "big" club.

At my club anyone wearing a Man U or any other shirt in the home end would be mercilessly barracked and possibly lamped by someone. Amazed that the supporters stand for it, never mind the club!

I'd love to think that you meant that attacking people for wearing a particular make of polyester shirt is not on, but I fear you meant the opposite....

Er, where did I say that? Of course it's not on, but theres always going to be the odd nutter who goes too far. The barraking however I would consider warranted.

I am a Man United fan living near Swansea.

I go up to Old Trafford as often as possible, my birthday is next sunday and watching United in Swansea would have been a lovely birthday present. I enquired with "my" ticket guy who informed me that tickets in the United end of the stadium were going for upwards of £250, he had sold a pair for £1,000!!!

Through friends I was offered a ticket in the home section for double face value (about £60), this was common and I know many United fans who done this, I rejected the offer and watched it on the telly, you can hardly enjoy the atmosphere sitting in amongst people who are supporting the other team can you?!?

Swansea don't have a large following, well at least they didn't until the end of last season. Towards the end of last season when Swansea had made the play offs, the club announced that if you bought a season ticket there and then at Championship prices, it would be valid regardless of what division they were in this season, this caused a big stir in Swansea and there was large ques to purchase season tickets.

I think they sold ALL their season tickets and from memory there are only 2,000 match day tickets available for each game, these sold out within the hour for Man United. I heard many people say that if you bought a season ticket, you could make your money back selling the tickets against the big teams, I believe the season tickets were 200 odd quid and people bought these as a punt hoping to sell the big game tickets on.

Swansea have about 11,000 genuine (and very passionate) fans, their band wagon is sold out though, tens of thousands of them on it!!! I have friends who "were" United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs etc fans and are now die hard Swansea fans, laughable really.
