I thought that too on first showing but on the replay his left foot is studs up on Gundo's ankle first then the right foot plays the ball and follows through on the same ankle.

It was red and lucky he didn't injure the player further.
yes

As obvious a red as you'll see.

Who on earth is this Christina Unkel on ITV! Could we not have had an English expert instead of an annoying American accent.

That's daft, he hit the ball first and cleared it, catching the German unintentionally accidentally on the follow through. I accept that everyone says in the modern game that's a red but to me, that seems rediculous.

Indeed I stand corrected. I've just seen the replays and see that he gets him with his left foot studs before smacking him again with the other foot on the follow through. laugh

FIFA Referee for 22 years so knows what she is talking about. Works for CBS and covers the premier League and champions League for them

What's with the ceremony.

Expecting Simon Cowell to press the buzzer any second now.

Does she now, well why can’t she stay with CBS and cover the Euros for the Yanks!

Doesn't seem keen to mention 'endangering the safety of an opponent' and 'serious foul play' regarding the red card, which are in not in the 'rules', but actually in the laws of the game...

As a minimum I expected her to have those bits of information to hand!

To be fair, if you had to pick a team of 11 from the 22 who started the game, I reckon you'd pretty much pick the entire German team. Passion and heart can only take you so far. Ultimately you need talent. The Germans just have better footballers in more or less every position.

This game is basically Man City v McVitie's Biscuit factory B team.

I’m glad I’m not the only one wondering why tf we have a yank woman explaining ref decisions, I’d love to have been in the meeting where they dreamt that up.
