I wouldn't mind defensive play so much if we hammered more than one past them first. Why we desperately defend a 1 goal lead from the start is beyond me

I don't think this team will ever properly gel under Southgate but there are signs from the second half against Slovenia that some parts of the puzzle are at least trying to find a way to connect - I am hoping for more of that this afternoon.

I’ve got the point that I’m enjoying watching the desperate Southgate bawling more than any possible England performance, so ideally they’ll get progressively more unbearable and lacklustre whilst still coming out on top.
