We've not heard anything in the media yet, but if the team is gelling on the pitch, is there something wrong off it?

if we're hell bent of playing the double pivot malarkey, it rice and…………. arnold? no. gallagher? no mainoo? maybe. bellingham? probably should be.

it's called a double pivot (i hate that term) for a reason. the team revolves around it, and if it isn't working……………...
You've missed out the player who IMO would be best suited to playing alongside Rice.

Adam Wharton.
Seems like a no brainer, Ian wright made a good point about sakas ability to play left back too, and that frees up a spot for Palmer without having to take saka off.

Bellingham and Foden dont appear to work in the same team, why not just play one of them and sub in the other if needed. Bellingham has been totally absent the last two games.

What are you clapping about Gareth.
That clapping the fans thing is nonsense, why do they do it? Is it some obscure form of apology?

There was a huge contrast between the speed and accuracy of Slovenia's rare attacks and England's plodding, inaccurate ones. No threat in England's play whatsoever.
Towards the end of the game there was a sequence of passing between four England players in a square in Slovenia's right-back area. They were just banging it from one to the other with zero purpose. What was that about?
And while I'm on, why can England never pass ahead of the player going forward? Why is it always straight at where they're standing, or behind them?

Oh well, looks like I didn't miss much after I nodded off last night sometime during the second half.......remember Mainoo coming on, and next thing I saw was the last minute of so of the punits at the end......

So, Safegate's lucked his way into another last 16.......by winning the poorest group of the tournament.

If we'd been in any of the other groups we'd would be lucky to be going home with as much as a point right now.

One tournament too many in the company of Mr Charisma? They haven't looked happy or excited at any time during the tournament so far. Disharmony over the squad selections and players omitted? Players getting picked regardless of form or fitness? Continuous negative tactics?

After 3 tournaments and 8 years in charge, it should all be a slickly run machine. Feels like a tournament too far and the player's good will is exhausted.

lol, wonder if the United board are looking at what Rangnick has done with Austria and thinking they made an error?

Probably time to do a rotate before the quarters.

Bellingham > Palmer
Saka > Gordon
Trippier > Shaw.

They just like a bit tired.

Have to say, a perfect example of a team of players rather than a group of talented individuals that appear completely at odds with their club performances.

I think Austria are a likely semi-finalist team, and could make the final.

And what on earth was the point in taking him if he’s not even getting in ahead of two players playing out of position.

As Gareth would say…

“Because it’s good for him to soak up the atmosphere of the squad at a competitive tournament as he stands a good chance of playing a major part of Englands future,”

They'll have to sharpen up in defence to do that.

I’m the guessing the FA won’t be too pleased with the BBC for posting this last night. Definitely not on message. hehe

(It’s genuine by the way. Screenshot from my phone.)

Yes I saw that BBC post too...too right though, its about as balanced a statement they could make, very truthful and on point.

The after match interviews were cringeworthy.

'Every game is a tough game'

Well no it wasnt for for a few other teams who breezed through with well drilled, well set up, well practiced line ups.

'We won the group which was our goal'

Yes because the three other teams were so poor and Denmark couldnt get a goal against Serbia, we were all sitting there hoping to god they didnt score a goal. Hardly going out there and winning the group is it.

I get it, they have to be positive, but a splash of reality wouldn't go amiss either so that we dont just end up laughing at them.

Can we sack Southgate and fly Jurgen Klopp out for the remainder of the tourney. 1. It would be funny, 2. We would instantly be better.

Im seeing something deeper in this poor set of results.

Bellingham looks to be part of one of these deeper issues, it looks like he's come into this tournament after all the big move club wise, but reality is he's been a missing man and can't play in this system so has thrown his toys out the pram.

Kane is also now becoming a detriment to England. He again has had a big move going well and can't play around these other players in this system.

These players have scored (the only goals), but come on, they have hardly been demonstrating world class effort/build up to score said goals have they?

He also lacks any decent wing movements, we havn't had inverted full back moves for the complete tournament right or left.

I do think Southgate has dug his own grave playing this same line up in attack for too long last night, Cole palmer changed situations yesterday, I'm not saying he is the answer but he seemed to do more than Saka managed for the previous amount of time.

How the bookies put us still at odds on favourite is beyond me.
