I can't wait for Southgate to leave or be sacked, the guy is totally inept for this level of football.
Doesn't have a clue or shows that he can adapt to his opposition.[/b]
We don't even have a good pool of English managers to pick from so the cycle will continue.
Besides Howe, O'Neill, Potter who aren't exactly amazing themselves, it's very slim pickings.

2018 World Cup semi finalists. 2020 Euros finalists. 2022 World Cup semi-finalists.
Sure, he’s cautious and considers every angle (famously upsetting the footballing world with his diverse advisory team).
As fans, we want Premier League flair, but that’s not his style. Frankly I’d rather go out in a blaze of glory, but that’s because I love the thrill of tournament football - do or die, death or glory.

my only hope is that when england aren't favourites and against a team trying to play and not just defend, there's more space to exploit.
I wondered the same. All three teams we have played have been pretty undynamic, almost playing for a point. Tend to do 3 substitutions and go full gas in the last 10 minutes in hope of a cheeky goal against us. Hopefully against a team with more pace, we will get more space to play to our strengths.

We have lucked into another favourable draw, so expect "sucess" until we have to play a proper team.

Wow this female pundit almost makes me want to follow Joey Barton on social media. Almost.
She's the one who took some slating for saying Leeds only got promoted due to COVID so she's not popular with our fans. OMITN said:

I've watched a lot of games in this tournament and hand on heart can say we have been one of the worst teams in it, in terms of how we play and chance creation.
I don't think we even have an xG of 1 yet.
I've seen a lot of so called minnows play better than we have so far
The squad selection wasn't right from the off with no left sided full back.
Experimenting with Trent in midfield part way through a tournament.
Swapping him with Gallagher who is a hybrid Scott Parker/Jimmy Bullard because he's got more energy, wtf
The guy doesn't even know who his first 11 should be.
We set up in one way regardless of opposition and don't change unless we have to.
From a neutral point of view, I think England still have a great chance to go all the way.
Performances have been poor, but good enough to never really look like losing a game. It can literally only get better really.
Wouldn't change the starting line up other than Saka to be replaced by Palmer and Mainoo with Rice instead of Trent or Gallagher.
Seen an improvement in Foden but disappointed in the Bellingham performance. If one more player needs hooked, maybe replace him with Gordon.
It's got to the stage, 3 games in, that most of the rest of the squad won't get a look in now. Bellingham and Kane should have been subbed at 60 to get a look at another couple of players, but that didn't happen so I really can't see them getting much game time now it's the knockout stage. So I think that was a mistake from Southgate.
In all likelihood, it'll be another 2 games coming up without meeting one of the very best teams. So a good chance to get your starting 11 figured out and get them firing for the top opposition to come later. That's why I think England are still in with a strong chance of going all the way. The players are certainly good enough.

Semi - lost to Croatia on pens
2020 - Euros
Group Games - beat Croatia, Czech and drew against Scotland
Last 16 - beat Germany
Qtr - beat Ukraine
Semi - beat Denmark
Final - lost to Italy
2022 - World Cup
Group Games - beat Iran, Wales drew against USA
Last 16 - bt Senegal

If you look at those teams any one decent we have lost against. The only good wins where against a poor Germany side. The remaining teams are poor and we have been very fortunate

I know where I've seen this kind of football before, it was that Father Ted episode where Jack scores in his remote controlled wheelchair.
I'd like to think GS will learn from these games, but he's not got form for it. He has his 11 and he tends to stick with it, I mean I'm surprised we don't still have Raheem Stirling in this squad, given how long he stuck with him.
Just feels like he's there to protect the players from all the big bad fans and press, rather than come up with an approach to play good football

if we're hell bent of playing the double pivot malarkey, it rice and…………. arnold? no. gallagher? no mainoo? maybe. bellingham? probably should be.
it's called a double pivot (i hate that term) for a reason. the team revolves around it, and if it isn't working……………...
You've missed out the player who IMO would be best suited to playing alongside Rice.it's called a double pivot (i hate that term) for a reason. the team revolves around it, and if it isn't working……………...
