If found guilty and punished in the same way as other clubs then it will cause a world of pain for the premier league.

Existential stuff.

Will be a lot easier to make it go away.

i'd suggest every club who has appeared in the PL since this backdate should have their finances fully audited too to ensure fairness. that's what this is all about after all, isn't it?

perhaps medical records/exemptions should be audited too?
Absolutely. I mean if you are prosecuted for tax evasion, every single person in the UK should also have a full audit of their accounts, otherwise it's discrimination, right?

the game needs breaking up? really`?

people go on as if city win the league by 20 points every year. arsenal beat villa, and they win the league. slippy steve stays on his feet, etc etc. very, very fine margins which city have managed to just get the right side of.

my worry is that if the book is thrown at city, and others, it'll open the door for the european super league. we're almost at that point with the stupid new CL format anyway, but it could be the tipping point.

people are saying that if FFP is crushed, newcastle will become a monster. well Chelsea have proven that bunging wads of cash is no guarantee of success. you need so much more in place too. manyoo 8th place having spent a bloody fortune being a case in point.
.
If city have broken the rules as it appears they have they need to be treated the same as the other clubs. This will have consequences.

You are a very well run club with a great manager
Chelsea have proven exactly the same as you - wads of cash good club management and a good football manager and you win all sorts. Utd demonstrate that you need all parts to get sustained success.

Liverpool had a good run because of the same thing.

None of this changes whether the rules were broken or not.

And it will be a st show either way.
When you say “as it appears” I think you mean “as I hope” rolleyes

And you do realise that City’s accounts have been signed off by auditors don’t you? So highly unlikely they would have missed all the dodgy payments the red cartel are wetting themselves over

I meant as it appears, which is why I said it.

Knock yourself out and read what's out there.
Will provide the context required to understand today's news.

Nothing is apparent until it’s proven.

if there were only 30 other people in the UK, this wouldn't be outrageous if a good chunk of those 30 were bleating about that person being prosecuted. casting the first stone and all that

Is that from a sky blue dictionary, sponsored by Abu Dhabi?
As it is not what it says in my dictionary.

Does it also define denial as a river in Egypt?

When you say the red cartel, you missed out colours from other clubs as most fans have a strong dislike for City taking the piss and disregarding the rules.

Sorry I meant allegedly breaking the rules.

there's dislike, then there's what the red cartel have done.

If you are genuinely worried about a European super league you should read up on how all the behind the scenes planning got revealed.
Fascinating stuff.

Wait.... You can't be saying there is corruption in football? Surely not?

Asssuming (lol) they are guilty, massive fine, short transfer ban, nothing to see here.

The fine will be covered by a new sponsorship deal where the cleaners at the club all wear clothes sponsored by Abu Dhabi.

Signed off by auditors that the accounts comply with tax and financial rules in the relevant national jurisdictions or signed off by auditors that the accounts comply with EPL rules?

It does leave the league open to challenges from clubs that have been impacted over the years.
Which is why I think they will have to do a behind closed doors deal.

You realise auditors miss things every day of the week? They probably get more wrong than right tbh.

This is a terrible look for city and taints everything tbh. Every trophy has a fat asterisk.

Which is a shame because the football has been incredible.

And I don't think the charges relate to anything that's illegal.
Just against league rules.

Maybe some of the remuneration stuff could go there, as it has elsewhere.

Sadly this latest petulant action only shows City and their owners for what they really are. Arrogant and self entitled. Shamelessly suing because the rules (supposedly) won’t allow them buy success. So what do they do ? Sue so that the rules are changed so they can buy more success.
It stinks, like most things at that club (some real quality football at times excepted).
Something’s money can’t buy, City’s owners haven’t found anything a price can’t be put on just yet.

And of course my post will smack of jealousy to some, and that’s fair enough too. For real City fans while it’s great at times just like the stadium there must be some emptiness involved.

City have been accused of buying success, this current action doesn’t do anything to dampen those claims.
