Why all the negativity? At least in the conference you'd get average gates, nobody watched that either.

Let’s wait for the hearing and see if the PL can prove their case before prejudging shall we?

I know you lot are a bit unhinged but that shouldn’t be too difficult to understand.

hanged, drawn and quartered already as far as our red shirted chums are concerned.

where was all the bleating about unfair playing fields when littlewoods money was being pumped in? louis edwards' proceeds of flogging condemned meat to manchester schools was being pumped in? clubs being floated on the stock market to raise funds nobody was able to get anywhere near competing with?

but, but, the rules…… dreamt up by a former executive of one of the clubs highlighted.

The rules that all the Premiership clubs voted for and agreed to abide by, and accept punishment if they broke them?

2013 FFP vote…...Clubs sources say Fulham, West Brom, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Swansea and Southampton all voted against. Chelsea, who had initially been viewed as opponents of financial fair play regulations, voted in favour.

so not 'all', no.

I agree the rules are a nonsense and there are far better ways of managing the risks of a club overspending

But
This is becoming a bit Trumpian

Fail to co operate
Then say you are innocent
Then, well the rules are unfair and we are the victims here

Whilst I agree that the rules are not right, you either broke them or you didn't. And there is very strong evidence that you did.

It will be a st show, whichever way it ends up.

Yes quite a bit of it has been published/leaked.

CBA finding it but it's as clear as day what you've done. And I agree there is an element of protectionism in the rules but that's a different argument as to whether you have broken them or not.

This legal case seems to be a case of
Yes we did it but you are being discriminatory not allowing us to.

Will buy you a few more seasons as the PL st their pants trying to work out what to do.

Yes and he's been found guilty and got a suspended sentence.

Other stuff he's leaked has led to successful prosecutions.

Have a read they are pretty interesting. Some good stuff about other clubs and players as well.

Seriously - it's clear as day what's gone on for some of the stuff. Hence the news today.
And I'll say it again, I agree that the rules are wrong.

And whilst I am a Liverpool fan, I am not really that arsed.
Way better you lot winning it than Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal.

I am really not that arsed as the game needs breaking up anyway and this could lead to it.

the game needs breaking up? really`?

people go on as if city win the league by 20 points every year. arsenal beat villa, and they win the league. slippy steve stays on his feet, etc etc. very, very fine margins which city have managed to just get the right side of.

my worry is that if the book is thrown at city, and others, it'll open the door for the european super league. we're almost at that point with the stupid new CL format anyway, but it could be the tipping point.

people are saying that if FFP is crushed, newcastle will become a monster. well Chelsea have proven that bunging wads of cash is no guarantee of success. you need so much more in place too. manyoo 8th place having spent a bloody fortune being a case in point.

.
If city have broken the rules as it appears they have they need to be treated the same as the other clubs. This will have consequences.

You are a very well run club with a great manager
Chelsea have proven exactly the same as you - wads of cash good club management and a good football manager and you win all sorts. Utd demonstrate that you need all parts to get sustained success.

Liverpool had a good run because of the same thing.

None of this changes whether the rules were broken or not.

And it will be a st show either way.

City have never claimed that the documents are fake.

The Guardian said:
"City denounced the use of the emails as “out-of-context materials purportedly hacked or stolen”, and alleged there was an “organised and clear attempt to damage the club’s reputation”'
So the emails are real but someone stole them to make us look bad and if they hadn't had been stolen, no one would have ever known what we were doing, so it's not fair?

Basically the Scooby-Doo defence....

i think the key is context. the investigation will be full and proper, and of proven guilty of the rules, no matter how ill conceived they are, then city will be punished. a tightrope for the PL, no doubt.

i'd suggest every club who has appeared in the PL since this backdate should have their finances fully audited too to ensure fairness. that's what this is all about after all, isn't it?

perhaps medical records/exemptions should be audited too?
