I'd be happier if Everton (or anyone else, for that matter) had offered £12M for Adam Armstrong, rather than Che Adams.

I think we'd all take £5M

Indeed, but there's more chance of Mbappe turning up with his boots and asking for a game.

Adams is one of our best players frown

Agreed, and I think he'll shine in the Championship.

Not a player we want to be letting go, IMHO.

As an Everton fan I know we've been linked to Che, but I don't think he's really PL quality. I think he'd be great for you in the championship, and you stand a decent chance of bouncing straight back up with him.

And I hope you guys do bounce straight back up as I've a bit of a soft spot for Southampton. I used to go a few times a year and go to most of the Everton games as I live in Hampshire.

I still wish we'd signed JWP though!

Agree. He will be a big loss this season as we're unlikely to replace him with anyone as good for that money.

Downes also clearly not coming to us....... this window is starting to look a bit grim.....

Adams should have stayed and hammered goals in in the championship.

He only scored 5 goals last season and I can't see him lighting it up in a shaky Everton side.

We won, not a convincing performance, though.

We do seem to be leaving things very late. That's something which is unlikely to last all season.

Still, a great result with very encouraging performances from Shea Charles, Sam Amo-Ameyaw and a very energetic Adam Armstrong.

That's the second time. I joked with a friend that something is amiss in the universe, it's usually us conceding 90+ mins into a match!

Twice in stoppage time (Norwich & Plymouth), plus 87th minute against Sheffield Wednesday.

Certainly not what Saints fans have been used to over the years !

Yeah very scrappy!

Adam Armstrong by far the best player on the pitch, not something I thought I'd be saying! Shea Charles looked shaky all match, did not fill me with confidence.

Good result away from home though.

I thought he did well, and he was awarded Player of the Match.

Ryan Manning, on the other hand..

Oh well. There goes any chance of promotion we might have had.

Give over. You've got a decent striker in Stewart (if he stays fit).

Never saw that result coming.

Shocking lack of positional awareness at times from the defenders. Basic stuff that U10s manage.

There doesn’t seem to be any leadership or organisation at the back.

The results for Leicester, Leeds and Norwich softened the blow slightly, but unless the defending is sorted, we’re in for a bumpy season.
